BR ground ball to 3b. Throw drifts in to area of runner but F3 is able to reach and “catch” the ball with foot touching base. Simultaneously BR runs through the base (legally) and collide with F3 glove. Ball in glove with immediate contact. F3 immediately pulls his glove arm away in pain and begins spinning around due to hurt wrist/arm and the glove is half open with full view of the ball. All the while the ball is moving in the glove and working its way out of the top of the webbing. On the second “spin” by F3 the ball falls to the ground. F3 never brought his free hand to the glove to secure or attempt a transfer. Umpire made no call until the ball dropped out of the glove to the ground and waived the runner safe. Coach argued transfer which there clearly wasn’t and also argued runner was out once the ball went in to glove with foot on base. Did this umpire make the correct call? NFHS rules not that it should matter I don’t think.

So a dead ball verbal appeal to the umpire was all that was needed in that scenario is that correct

Coach asked for the ruling on it but never had his defense appeal

NFHS Bases loaded, 1 out, tie game, bottom 7, 3 balls on batter. Championship game. Ball 4, batter begins celebrating but goes to and touches 1b. R3 runs home throws helmet in celebration but does touch plate. R1/R2 sprints towards the plate in celebration and never touch their required bases. Celebration ensues. Nothing is called. Def coach goes ballistic regarding rule 9-1-2. Crew gets together waves runners safe and game is over. Question- does proper appeal have to occur from the D regarding this play (missed/untouched base) or can the crew simply rule on it?
