  1. Is a runner on first being awarded 2 bases obligated to touch 2nd, or can he proceed directly from 1st to 3rd? I understand the “without the liability to be put out” clause, but does that supersede procedure if appealed when the ball is put back in play?
  2. 10U. Pitch was in flight and hit by batter after R3 slid into home.
  3. There’s the answer I was looking for! Thank You!
  4. BR hit the ball just after runner slid home. Pitch was well on the way.
  5. Runner crosses plate before batter hits the incoming pitch, batter runner put out at 1st. Does the run count?
  6. I know during the windup a pitcher is committed to fluid, non stop motion. From the stretch though, is it permissible to hang your lift leg momentarily?
  7. No outs, Runner on 1B, line drive to F4 intentionally dropped. F4 tosses to F6 covering 2B then tosses to 1B for double play. What’s the ruling?
  8. I get what you all are saying and again, my question has nothing to do with obstruction. It was simply regarding running in reverse toward home plate and if a rule applied. This interpreted rule is a standard across all leagues of baseball. Run downs (reverse running) are allowed between home and first, the runner is live until tagged or forced at first or happens to contact home plate. If you look at that second video post, the interpretation was incorrect. Thanks for all your input!
  9. Actually, the rule is pointed out in the video I posted. As long as he doesn’t retreat and touch home plate, he’s still a batter runner until tagged or forced out.
  10. Amazingly, I came across this. No need to answer now I guess!
  11. Say on a bunt play F3 fields the ball and attempts a tag on the batter runner. The batter runner backs up toward home to avoid the tag and a run scores behind him. There are no outs. Is there a rule (by definition) stating a batter runner cannot run backwards? I’ve heard of a rule against this but can’t find it anywhere. Ithink they called it abandonment because you can only go forward to first as home plate can’t be reclaimed.
  12. In this case, R2 was attempting a steal to B3 on the walk. BR1 should be called out on interference and R2 returned to 2nd.
  13. Batter walks, in process throws bat to his sideline and it comes in contact with the catchers thrown ball to third on a steal attempt. What’s the call?
  14. Runner on first, pitcher comes set, steps back, throws to first baseman whom is 10’ toward second. is this legal or is the pitcher required to step “directly” toward 1st base?
