I'm 52 years old and have one good season under my belt. I had Umpired some little league back in High School, and then coached and watched a bunch of youth baseball as my boys were growing up. Last year I decided to get into Umpiring. The local Association has a great training program that I completed last winter. It gave me enough confidence to jump in. I did a few High School JV games and about 50 summer rec games ranging from 13 year olds to an over 48 league. I got laid off in late September and was able to Ump DoubleHeaders nearly every day in October, so I worked well over 100 games in for my initial season.
The High School season starts next week and I'm already scheduled for one JV and one Varsity scrimmage. I cant wait for the season to get started.
When I'm not umpiring, I spend as much time as possible Deer Hunting. Mostly archery here in NOVA, but also Muzzleloaders, Shotguns and Rifles. We eat Venison year round at my house.
