I really do appreciate all of your feedback. I will sleep on it and come up with the right decision. I really like whomever said 'have no regrets.' That is correct. And I will. I just love the game and wouldn't want to pay 4G to get politely walked out. So, BIG decision for me. I will do whatever is meant to be. Maybe I'll see some of you dudes in Vero Beach. But maybe I will choose to not. Regardless, I do appreciate your input. It means a lot to me and I wish nothing but the best for all of you. G

I get it. I am and have been a computer science dude from the day that I gave up baseball. I want to get back. I have the luxury of working from anywhere on the planet, be it working at night, or working from a different time zone. So, it's not like I'd have to give up my day job, because my job is not a day job. Loving this feedback. Thank you all very much!

I appreciate all of the comments. For sure. But I have to say it is a bit depressing. I KNOW that I would be a VERY valuable member of a crew whether I go through school or not. I know you have to do it the correct way, but, it takes one to know one. And I was an outstanding ball player in Los Angeles, grew up with Rodney Beck, who was drafted right out of High School. I watched him succeed, also deteriorate as a ball player. I batted against him in high school and have to say that was the first time as a youngster that I could hear the pitch coming before I saw it. He was amazing. I am on board with the bucket list for sure! But this is / was something that was going to consider as a career. It isn't about making money for me. It's the pride, and honor of being on the field with the up and coming great baseball players. But if it's going to take 10 years to get to the cream of the crop, then I think I will back down. G

So, you're saying there's a chance! I am in the best spot I could ever be to make my dream happen, and want to make sure I don't make a bad choice. Hell, maybe I'll open a restaurant and watch my dreams come across on the TV. I do not want to out competed because of my age. So I will not put myself in that position. From what I am hearing. So thank you all very much. And I am very envious and regretful that I didn't do it years ago... G

Hello all, I am 45, in great physical condition, have played ball my whole life and am contemplating going to umpire school in Vero Beach in January. I would want to finish at the top and move on to whatever that means. I guess I'm asking, what does that mean to move on. And can I make a living if I was doing great work? Thanks G
