    Fair or Foul

I believe it is the point of contact of the ball and the fielder. Then take that point straight down, and if the point on the ground is fair or foul... then.... that's the call. Fielder can have both feet in foul territory and then stretch back into fair ground and touch the ball and, as said above, can be fair
  2. http://atmlb.com/1r4FyuB NFHS I'm aware a fake tag is obstruction, but would this be considered obstruction as well?
  3. That's interesting. @Matttwo separate games? @noumpere that's what I had originally thought. Thankfully, knock on wood, I've never had any problems with such a play. I would definitely go over that in my pre-game with my partener
  4. Hey everyone, I've had my fair share of run downs so far this spring/summer, but I'm not 100% sure on the proper way to cover the situation working a two man system. I understand where the PU should go, and when he should go inside and announce to his/her partner that he/she has the side covered, but as far as tags in the middle of the bases I'm unsure. I remember hearing, and it makes sense, that a play going away from you, it is easier for you to call as far as seeing the tag. But obviously, if the play is at the base, it is the call for the umpire who has that base covered. Sorry if my wording is a little confusing, but I hope you all understand what I'm saying. Thanks in advance
  5. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. @ERW27 I have indeed heard of AFU. I know some fellow umpires who umpire for AFU as well. I am still attending college so I'm sticking with one organization (Big Apple Umpires) for now. They always keep me busy so I have no complaints at all. Down the road I will definitely look to expand. @BRUMP I'm in the Queens area. Pretty much in the middle of Long Island and the city
  6. Hey everyone, I noticed yesterday that the PU during the As vs. Marlins game was only wearing one ball bag http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/11493214/v34095035/must-c-cannon-cespedes-nabs-stanton-at-plate/?source=MLB&c_id=mlb&tcid=facebook_embedded_player&gid=2014_06_27_oakmlb_miamlb_1 I know it is proper to use two ball bags depending on the level of baseball you do. I always assumed whenever you would umpire any older than 16 or 18, that you should wear two ball bags. Personal opinion, or proper attire?
  7. Hey everyone, I found this site a few days ago, and after reading through many posts I decided to officially register. I am currently 21. I started umpiring an in-house league at the age of 13. I then got certified by Big Apple Umpires when I was 16. 8 years as an umpire, and I am always learning new things.
