  1. 9/10 yr old dixie youth baseball. I asked my senior umpire and my TD if we were doing the high school rules about number of visits. Between every inning the VT Assistant coach would walk out to the mound from coaching 1st ( so when his team came out on Defense). I never told him it was a visit? is that common courtesy or is it a rule? anyways in the 3rd inning, HC calls time out to go talk to his pitcher. I told him that was the 4th visit and he had to change pitchers. youd thought i had told him i was gonna punch his kid. so he wants to protest the game. We talk to the TD who has my association UIC on the phone, and TC tells us that the coach gets 2 visits an inning then has to take the pitcher out on the 3. TD tells coach he can keep his pitcher in but coach is to mad at this point and already has a new pitcher on the mound. This has turned into more of a rant but how could i have handled the craziness better?
  2. right and that is what we called. was asking different question
  3. This happened to me about a year ago, so some of the finer details are a bit hazy. HS rules. 13yrs. R1 and R3 i think. I know there was R1 and no R2. anyways pitcher goes to windup start. takes sign and stands there for a sec to make sure everyone knows he is in windup. then takes his nonpivot foot and steps directly at first. caught me and my partner off guard but we quickly both called balk. DC comes out saying that its not a balk. says he has rules that he used to make sure that it wasnt. what he actually had was a printed copy from some website that vaguely resembled rules. both me and my partner tell him he is confused because he doesnt even have the full rule that he is protesting. I guess my question is have you ever seen this move or something like it? what is the weirdest way a coach has tried to get around a rule for you?
