These were balks that were called or balks that you saw that were not called? he balked twice .......it's just not documented on video at this point. There's an interview with Farrell and it shows Wendelstedt coming out from behind the plate calling a balk but you can't see why ...it's a quick look, not good enough to post actually..... Had to use my paid MLB subscription to see them but top 3rd, Donaldson and Young at bats, start and stop balks. He definitely twitched the glove. Yeah, these were all called in the same inning. I only saw it on MLB Network though, so just for a minute, didn't get to fully watch it.

Alfredo Aceves balked twice today, by moving his glove while on the rubber and in the stretch by shaking his glove. Can anyone find the video? I saw it on MLB Network, so not sure where I can get the video at.

How do you manage to see the steal clearly on a one-man crew,since it's mostly a bang-bang play. You have to stay behind the plate to call the pitch a ball/strike, and you may not be able to get out from behind the plate. Thanks for the advice

Nope. I'm a young umpire and I am umpiring a scrimmage soon, then it is on to real games. Just a practice game to get things started.

I just recently purchased a brand new Rawlings coolflo hockey style umpire helmet for umpiring. There is padding near the chin under the mask, it seems very hard to talk with the padding there. I was thinking about taking it out, I've tested it out without it a bit and find it doesn't decrease my protection. Has anyone who has a hockey style mask experimented and has umped a game without this padding. It's a 13U game, so the balls aren't thrown too hard?
