We are taught to be proactive as the base ump. If we see a checked swing attempt by the batter that we would ring up as strike three on a dropped third strike, we don't wait to be asked by the plate ump. Quickly and loudly, "Yes he went", gives the runner a heads up as to where he should be going and the defense likewise. No advantage to either side. :question1:

My partner, Jason and I are doing a scrimmage last Saturday. high school intersquad, so its casual. I have the dish and Jason on bases. Mid game we have a rundown between third and second. It goes back and and forth a few times and we end up with two runners on second base. DC hollers out "tag em both", F6 does just that, Jason calls the out and the lead runner heads for the dugout. Between innings we talk about the play and realize that we actually had two outs when the lead runner left the field because the trailing runner was the one out on the tag. If that ever happens again I will be sure to get em both.
