  1. We're having a discussion as to whether this is just HS Varsity baseball or possible illegal contact for not avoiding the fielder (8.4.2c). Ball was hit to short RF with a play at the plate; not considering MC, but if it's nothing, what happens the next time the contact could get rougher? I realize this isn't 10U kids, but to add to the play- what if another runner followed this runner and scores too because the ball was knocked out by the runner running into the tag? F2 had the ball waiting to make the tag, he could have even blocked the plate. The runner is expected to give up, legally slide, somehow avoid? Or do what he did. Thanks! ArchiveVideoClip.mp4
  2. Richvee, your last statement says TOP, but second play by an infielder is TOT correct?
  3. The question I still have in regards the the article of Rule #8 I quoted is if this part of the rule an all-or-none statement. If R1 makes 2nd but BR doesn't make 1B before time of the throw to DBT then award is at TOP. Even though R1 is standing on 2nd, he's only going to get 3rd because BR hasn't reached 1st yet, so award is TOP.
  4. R1 stealing on the pitch; ball hit to F5 who bobbles the ball. Seeing that he can't get R1 @ 2nd, his first play is instead to throw to F3 to retire BR but throws ball into dead ball territory. At time of the throw, R1 is on 2nd but BR hasn't reached 1st yet. Rule 8-3.5 says: "If EVERY RUNNER, including the BATTER-RUNNER, has advanced one base at time of the first play, the award is two bases from the time of the throw." So award R1 home and BR 2nd? Or award R1 3rd and BR 2nd because EVERY RUNNER didn't advance one base at time of the throw?
