Brothers,

As always, I am not looking to criticize or show anyone up. I am trying to learn...

I would first like to confirm that the following occurred as I was not watching the game when these things happened:

1) Did Ohtani violate the between innings timer on all 3 occasions he was due on the mound? If yes, why did the umpires permit this and not hang a ball on the count after the timer expired?

2) Did Blake Snell upon entering the game as a reliever, ask for and receive mound maintenance from the TOR groundskeepers? I have never seen this before at the MLB level unless there is rain or muddy conditions. Once again, if yes, why did the umpires permit this and is there an OBR rules citation related to this circumstance? Do MLB groundskeepers have an obligation to honor "field repairs" during a game?

EDITORIAL: If I am Mark Shapiro, I am firing my entire groundskeeping staff. You repaired the field for the OPPOSITION in OUR park during Game 7 of the World Series? I understand this is the Canadian way...there are limits. They violated them.

What do you have, brothers?

What do I have?  A post from a fan, not an umpire.

#1 was explained during the game - when a pitcher is on-deck, at bat, or on base when the 3rd out is made, the umpires have the discretion to provide additional time for the pitcher to warm up.

In between innings when they interviewed the Blue Jays Skipper, they ask him about the conversation he had with the HPU or crew chief (cant remember which one Fox announcers said) about the time taken between innings by Ohtani.

IIRC, the answer was that the umpires would address it with the Dodgers. I actually thought that the answer fell into that they noticed it, but unless the Blue Jays said something, they werent going to do anything about it.

I mean, what are they going to do beside that, right? Arguably the best player ever doing this in G7 of the World Series. They arent trying to interject themselves into the game. {said somewhat sarcastically).

I think everyone knew of the descretion the umpires used, but, Fox timed Ohtani using 3+ minutes. And one time, he was only on deck as a batter and not running the bases. The discretion should have been if he was a runner or BR and not when he was just in the dugout.

I will try to look up where the catcher was after these innings and maybe it wasnt Ohtani but Smith (F2) was the cause of the delay.

Ohtani was on base in the first and made the last out in the third. A total of two innings when the umpires should have given some discretion.

Smith was the first out in the first. And didnt bat again while Ohtani was the pitcher. My mistake.

Well, it wasn't working out well for the Dodgers. Toronto knocked him out of the game.

They should try to be a little more consistent though. Taking that long simply isn't necessary.
