TheLovejoy Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 New without tags, All Star Magnesium (FM4000) mask. Never used, bought for my kiddo, who decided not to work with me. Including NEW Gerry Davis Universal Pads, and All Star Harness, and All Star visor. $old shipped, but price will reduce until it sells. Paypal Friends and Family, or Venmo. If you want a listing on Ebay, add 10% fees. Note on Gerry Davis Universal Pads: The bottom strap is a solid, one piece velcro strap. I modified this one to fit around the vertical crossbar that the All Star Masks have. I cut it vertically in half to fit around the bar. You'll see where the Gerry Davis Patch is. It looks the same as the LUC pads on the bottom center velcro strapping. But, the GD patch still fits ❤️ Price has shipping included. Dutch Auction. I just state this because it will reduce much faster than a simple, "it didn't sell this week, so I'll lower it $10 next week"....nah. I aggressively lower it daily. I'll start the item at a pretty standard new price you can find on other websites, then every day, I lower it until it's gone. (I do have a wedding this weekend, so might be a delay) After a period of time, perhaps a couple hours, overnight, the next day, I'll reduce the price. Then again, and again, until it's too good of a deal to pass up for somebody. This guarantees a couple things: 1. It will sell. 2. Somebody who is a member of this community will get it. All you have to do is quote and reply to the price comment that I place in the post. I'll do this first one quickly as an example I'll start mine at $275 shipped, and perhaps before bed, or when I wake up, I'll drop the price a bunch. Then again tomorrow night, or whenever I get to it. You can follow, comment, or just check back to see price updates, then comment and quote when you want it, and you pay that much. 2
Jglopez7 Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 Better off buying the original post $110! This is more than the new price with factory all star face pads ($249) good luck again

I added pads and a harness so that it was more sellable. However, I still start the price high, then reduce the price, until it sells. You could have just not commented, and watched it in action. 1

SeeingEyeDog Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 Hey @TheLovejoy, as a gear addict, I'm curious and feel compelled to ask... What made you swap out the A/S pads which feature the dispersion plate (an integral part of that factory rig) for the Gerry Davis pads? Not a criticism, just a serious gear question... ~Dawg 1

Not a criticism, just a serious gear question... ~Dawg TL;DR: I used the All-Star pads that came with this setup on another mask, and wanted to sell this one with brand-new, unused pads/harness. I don't like selling used stuff. I originally bought two All-Star FM4000s — one for me and one for my son, who was planning to get into umpiring. Between firefighting academy and wedding prep all summer (he just got married yesterday ❤️), he never really had time to use it, so it became my backup, and this silver one sat untouched. When I picked up the Gerry Davis Mirage mask at the end of this summer, I pulled the unused All-Star pads off this silver FM4000 and put them on the GDM so I’d have a fresh set there. That left this one as just a bare frame. At first, I figured I’d just sell the frame, but realized that’s not super helpful to anybody who might actually NEED a mask — most of us gear junkies already have plenty of extra parts, and newer umps usually want something ready to wear. One guy even messaged me asking how to attach pads and what harness to buy, and that kind of hit me… selling just a frame isn’t very approachable to anybody who NEEDS a setup. So I decided to purchase the new Gerry Davis Universal pads. Mostly because I don’t like selling used, sweat-soaked gear, just personal preference. I went with these pads because I’m honestly convinced the Gerry Davis Universal pads are MORE effective on the top mask pad than the All-Star FM4000 setup. The All-Star’s top pad is built for catchers wearing helmets or skull caps, while the Gerry Davis top pad seems purpose-built for umpires wearing hats. The difference is honestly night and day. I’m fully convinced it’s the better “hat-friendly” setup for the top of the mask. No research or science here — just real-world experience from someone who’s worn a skull cap for the last five years (before it was cool), after taking a slipped bat swing to the dome 😅.

Yeah, you make a great point about the extra protection from the GD Mirage up top that the A/S does not offer. GD used to offer this rubber membrane accessory thingy that you would weave into the harness that would give you additional protection up top as well as keeping your frame from getting scratched in your bag, etc...not sure if they are still offering that. Thanks again for your response. I will be looking into those GD pads. ~Dawg 1
