Agree...furthermore, there better be a cheetah chasing a gazelle in the outfield for any of the other crew members calling time with no other runner except the one directly in front of U3. 3 Quote
Coach Carl Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 The coach wasn't trying to help him return to or leave the base, so looks like there's no assist call to make. 1 Quote
stevis Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 The NCAA rule seems to leave a loophole that physically assisting your runner in staying on the base is allowed. 1 Quote

The Man in Blue Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 I don't mind a quick reminder to the coach on this, but this is far from an assist of any meaningful kind and does not warrant any official action in any code. Yeah, sometimes we pick our battles. Sometimes we pick them well, sometimes we don't. Back to the "spirit vs. letter" debate . . . 2 Quote

Agreed (though appreciate @johnnyg08 posting it for discussion). This is in the category of "coach, it's a good idea to let the foul ball touch something or get past the base before grabbing it". In isolation, a non event. As a perpetual habit of the coach though it can lead to a bad outcome when they grab one that could have gone fair because of that rote behavior. 3 Quote
johnnyg08 Posted June 18, 2025 Author Report Posted June 18, 2025 Just to clarify, you can all hear the audio in the clip of the "warning" or "please be advised" at the end..yes? It's probably a yes...but I just want to make sure...not because of anything one was other other...but I really liked that part of the clip. 1 Quote
