NCAA Check Swing Mystery

Watching NCAA Super Regionals all weekend and check swings are treated like a mystery by announcers, crowd, and team. Never once have I heard direct reference to the rule.

That said, the announcers haven't been so bad that I've muted them, so they got that going for them compared to MLB national announcers.

Why would an announcer (or a fan . . . or a coach) look in the rulebook?  They know the rules!

Yep...it's actually quantified in the rule book, yet there's never a mention.

so, j08, what was the old collegiate rule for determining a half swing?, and and and, do you get more strikes with the past the front hip rule or less strikes that way, compared to the former rule of determining a half swing.
