0 Velho Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 The coach never coaching again (and zero tolerance as an attending fan if not banned for that as well), is the necessary first step. I've made that happen in the past. If the Board won't do that, every umpire should boycott the league until it happens and, eventually, the district umps should join in. Have fun doing All Stars without umpires. I could go on since this angers me so much but I'll stop. 6 Quote
0 orangebird Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 I haven't done my first game yet but as an adult LL ump I wouldn't trust the org had my back if that guy was allowed to coach again so that's my 2 cents 2 Quote
0 beerguy55 Posted March 12 Report Posted March 12 Less than zero tolerance. You want to further reduce the workforce of umpires, let this behavior go unchecked. Outright ban to start. No entry to any LL sanctioned event in any capacity. Depending on how young those umps are (ie. if they are minors) this could be misdemeanor harassment, or even assault, depending on what was yelled. This is not only an act of having those umpires' backs, and protecting all umpires, it's also being proactive. Those umpires may decide to defend themselves if they encounter this asshat again...or, those umpires' fathers. 4 Quote
0 LouisB Posted March 13 Report Posted March 13 The Board holds a Disciplinary Hearing. The umpires and coach tell their sides of the story and maybe a witness or two plus the video. I would imagine, as the others have stated, he's gone as a coach and hopefully banned from the facility. Quote

I'll take the triple posting as meaning he got 3 consecutive life sentence bannings. Glad to hear it got resolved as it should. 1 2 Quote
0 The Man in Blue Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Concurrent. Hate to give the penalty a "like" . . . but also glad that orgs are taking care of business. Quote
0 johnnyg08 Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Call the police. Don't engage the enraged coach. 2 Quote
0 The Man in Blue Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Only had a coach do that once. He stopped before the lot, but a parent kept coming. Police were called, an off-duty officer was already there. Dude took off before anything escalated. A report was filed with the state org, and they followed up. Don't know what sanctions were issued as it wasn't an area team. The only other time I was followed was by a grandma. She followed me out to say thank you and give me a compliment "for keeping up with those kids! I could never do that." I laughed and said, "you managed to catch me!" 1 Quote
