JeBa
It drives my nuts that many LL pitcher's hats fall off their heads after almost every pitch. Am I being a RedA$$ ? 😣 😀 Seems that this has been a trend over the past few years. Jeff

ousafe
I blame the flat brim trend.
The Man in Blue
Ejectable offense in some codes. Just saying . . . handle your business. While this seems petty, it is a delay of the game and potentially dangerous as Junior Not Nolan Ryan chases his hat instead of the line drive coming back at him. ArchAngel72
Happened to me in LL minors this year. Kid had a big mop of hair and needed a cut. After the 4th time 4th pitch in a row. I called time approached the mound while he was picking it up. I asked to see the hat. inspected it briefly and turned and announced to his bench "Coach I found a nail file" handed it back to him and said try to keep the hat on while your pitching please. Imagine that the hat did not fall off again while he was pitching. 1
JeBa
Sometimes it seems the hat falling off is a purposeful strategy....the batter's eyes are trying to track the ball coming out of the pitcher's hand.....and all of a sudden there is also this hat fluttering down in the batter's line of sight (albeit after the release of the ball). I would find it distracting. And I do find it distracting....on the TV!

Often tempted to stop the game and tell the coach to find the kid a hat that fits. You should be doing that in HS games. 10.2.3.C Courtesy of @wolfe_man in another thread on this topic: The issue raised about the pitcher not being able to keep his cap on is covered in 2019 case play 10.2.3C— 10.2.3 SITUATION C F1’s cap frequently falls off his head and in the umpire’s judgment, it is either distracting to the batter or delaying the game. RULING: The umpire shall instruct the defensive team’s coach that F1’s cap must be secured. If this situation is not corrected, F1 will be removed as pitcher.

MadMax
I have been known to audibly state towards a F1 and his dugout, “I have duct tape.”

If he cuts that hair, the hat is going to be even more oversized.
