The Man in Blue Posted May 25, 2024 Report Posted May 25, 2024 I have obstruction which is negated by the malicious contact. I have malicious contact because I saw him brace (OK) and then push through (arms extend, not OK). I also may have an umpire who may not have had the position to see the MC because he was behind the catcher. EDIT: No, after a second watch, I DO have an umpire who was out of position for both the play and the MC. Where is he running in from? On the plus side, he has a crisp safe signal, though one leg is up in the air. 3 Quote
MadMax Posted May 25, 2024 Report Posted May 25, 2024 An example of MC, should be shown in association / training videos. Ejection? Have to, since it’s MC. Un-official explanation (ie. if you were explaining this to a non-umpire) would be that had the Runner deviated his path, or slid early because the F2 was in his path, then we (umpires) could have (and indeed, should have) called OBS. But, because of the MC (the illegal way in which contact occurred), that takes precedence, and it must be an Out, and a subsequent Ejection. On the point of PU positioning… he’s too deliberately going to 3BLX (“follow the advice / diagram / directions we give you”) and he’s too far away. We don’t see any adjustments out of him until it’s too late. 3 Quote

agdz59 Posted May 25, 2024 Report Posted May 25, 2024 The ball is in the catcher's mitt before the runner gets into the frame. I don't have obstruction. Certainly have MC. Quote
Velho Posted May 25, 2024 Report Posted May 25, 2024 Runner didn't seem hindered in his plan to truck F2 2 Quote
