Entertaining video for all, enjoy the whole thing but then let me know what the balk was at 5:33. 6:31 had a start stop an instance before the actual step off but really?

Watched it ten times and still didn’t see it!

at 6:31 I am scratching my head.   Was it because his hands came apart before he stepped off?  He tosses the ball into the glove as his hands part and then he steps off... /shrug  I am reading into this as I am FAR from the expert on these things.

6:31 might be a start stop. While you can step off while coming set it can be perceived a stopping coming set before the disengage especially in MLB. He stopped bringing his hands together and then stepped off although I would consider him disengaging while stopping.

5:33 -- watch his legs.

My "guess" is that the runner took off running, so U3 interpreted that as a start and then stop in reaction to the runner.

He was already set. He couldn't start and stop. His leg movement was part of stepping off as far as I could tell.

The 5:33 one . . . don't look at his upper body at all.  If you are trying to watch the upper body you won't see it.

Right about when the commentator says the runner takes off, there is a twitch/flinch in his legs (not the step off).

Yes, I do think it was ticky-tack, but I do (think I) see it.  Since the runner was taking off, trying to force the balk, I can see the umpire thinking he was starting to pitch and stopped.

He started to bring his hands together, stopped doing that, then stepped off.

Yep. You literally have to stare at his right knee and you can see a slight knee buckle. I watched it 4 times just staring at his knee. I saw it buckle in two of my four viewings. It’s that slight. Maybe it looked more pronounced from a different angle. But yeah, ticky tack I think.

Or he started to bring his hands together and stepped off while stopping to bring his hands together.

If nothing else, the 6:31 one looks "weird" - I suspect from U3's angle it looks like the hand went into the glove and came out.
