NicNag
I have a pair of west gold shin guards and was looking at a pair of the Douglas shins. I have had the golds for about 16 years and do love them. Yeah they’re bulky but definitely give the confidence of protection. I was wondering on the sizing comparison. I looked at my golds and they are a 16 to 17 in size. The pair I found are 18. I’m 6’2” and was wondering how much bigger in size the Douglas shins are. Thanks in advance! Baseballer
I've used both. The Wilson's are definitely more bulky. On me the thigh pad came up higher on the Douglas than the Wilsons. I would not hesitate going with Douglas. Because when they start getting worn, Douglas will refurbish them for you for a nominal fee so you dont have to spend another $100+ again on new shin guards. Overall, Douglas shins are bulletproof without all the weight and bulk. 1
BT_Blue
Also, if this matters to you or not. But Douglas is American owned and made. Everything is done out of their Houston location (I believe). This is why, when I was looking for a baseball glove for myself, I really wanted a Nokano. But couldn't afford the price tag. Wilson on the other hand. As stated many times. Is made and shipped from China or the like. 2

If you are interested I retrofit Wilson shin guards and make them more low profile if you're interested.
FranklinT
I too have worn both - wore the big Wilson black shins for a while 15 or so years ago. The Douglas are a huge upgrade and much lighter and more comfortable. I’ve worn the gray Douglas shins since they reintroduced them (maybe 2013?) Ive also worn the gray Wilson shins and liked them better than the black Wilsons, but the Douglas has the extra protection above the knee and and feel lighter. Don’t let the price of the Douglas products scare you off it’s worth it. Think my Douglas are 17 and the other nice thing is they offer a few specific sizes.
