I learned a lot over the long, cold Minnesota winter and I am finally taking steps to become and umpire.

I will still be coaching the 15U rec level. We have a starnge league where we have new teams, rec teams and some A level teams because you just sign up at your local park...

I got registered and picked up my gear off craigslist last week. I am all set to officiate. Just have to see if I can stay calm and make the right calls in real time.

Will be starting (as time allows) with 10U and maybe 12U to ease in. All NFHS. Then the more experienced umpires can stick to the higher levels. We've had to ump our own games at times...

You folks on the forum here have helped me immensely. I look forward to contributing to improving the sportsmanship and culture of players and coaches at the younger age levels to help fix the umpire shortage.

Great to have you, @Toggy! Welcome, brother. You might have to take that field alone sometimes but, you are never alone. We are always with you. Take it one pitch at a time, one play at a time and nip any and all bad behavior, choices and or actions. Nip 'em in the bud.
