I recently got the all-star magnesium umpire mask from this site and i'm looking for opinions on a harness. The stock harness that came on it I do not like the velcro and the way it adjusts feel like I cant get the right fit. At the moment i'm torn between the umplife v2 flex harness and the wilson mlb umpire harness. What do you think.

How do you like that harness

The OWO and UL harnesses are very similar--and I will never again have a mask without one of them.

There's a reason for that. OWO has been taking Ray's stuff and copying it.

Support the innovators, I say.

Can't agree more.

Everything is relative. If you look at Ray's chest protector harness first design and the leg guard straps both look very similar to the All-Star delta flex, what came first the egg or the chicken.

I've got no problem with seeing something and saying "that's not bad, but you know what would make it even better?"

It's another completely, to say "that's pretty good, I bet I cash in by doing the same thing"

If the UL products weren't any better than the AS, I'd be saying the same thing about them.

My issue is the OWO is pretty much identical (I don't have them in front of me) except the logo on the back of the harness. That's not an improvement.

You can't go wrong with any UmpLife harness, be it mask or chest protector.  I use an UmpLife on my Nike mask and love it.  I also use one of the Outwest harnesses on my All Star FM4000Mag mask and it is a good product as well.

I was making the triangle donut 30 years before AS sold it. My harness was originally for hockey goaltenders still using a chest pad and shoulder pads that were separate units

As for the shin pads strap design, that also was made for goaltenders back in the day to eliminate back off the knee fatigue, still in use today but way more advanced than the shin pad catchers and umpires use.

I was also making mask harnesses for goaltenders way back in the day

Most of my ideas being a goalie were for catchers and then I got into umpiring while still playing hockey and baseball.

Did you get their Delta Flex harness with it or the traditional? I think both are "stock" depending which model you get. The Delta Flex works great with their skull cap.

So I bought it from a member here and it came with the delta flex. I just didnt like all the velcro and ended up going with the ump life harness

I ended up going with the all-star harness. Its ok so far. haven't seen any game action yet and that will be the determining factor
