If the ball went over the base as you said, fair.  If the ball hit fair but hit foul beyond the base, it's foul if it didn't cross over the bag.

In the OP's situation, it's a fair ball. The OP specifically says the ball lands before the base (emphasis added):

That's not what you said.  You just said it if hits fair before the base it's fair.
