Just got a phone call today from some MiLB supervisors telling me I got a full ride to pro school, and I'm stoked. My plan is to graduate from college in 2025, and then attend the school. They said that they will hold the scholarship for me until I finish my education. Guys, if there's an MLB one day camp near you, go! Great instruction and from what I hear they are giving out 3-5 scholarships per camp. Here's a pic from the camp:

Good for you! Even if you decide not to work pro ball, your umpiring will be next level, and you'll be able to share what you've learned and improve the amateur umpiring in your area.

or… even if your life choices lead you away from pro ball, or if pro ball doesn’t have room or fit for you…

In no way am I correcting @maven, @Scissors, I’m only supplementing. Sometimes, there are elements completely outside our control that will dictate, if not otherwise influence, where our interests and careers will lead.

By focusing on getting your degree first, you are setting yourself up “better” for making course corrections in the paths (plural) your careers (plural) may take you.

And it's the smart play, given the odds of getting the pot at the end of the rainbow (baseball's narrowest door).

Can't agree more. Having options has replaced ball bearings as the key to the future.

Looks at the wall of the garage lined with 25-gallon totes full of ball bearings … starts crying silently.

Congrats @Scissors!  That’s a chance of a lifetime.  It’s awesome that they will hold the spot for you!

How does a guy apply for one of these scholarships???

Go to an MLB one day camp. I didn't apply, it was just given to me. They give out 3-5 scholarships per camp apparently
