debatable infield fly call, but looks to be pretty clearly (to me) as an intentional drop? U2 maybe shielded and could tell?

Not ordinary effort and not intentional drop for me.

G:  You beat me to it!  The video clearly shows that the infield was playing WAY deep, and F4 had to really run fast to even have a chance at a catch.   I think the no-call was proper under the "ordinary effort" part of the rule.  None of the umpires called IFF, so it's play on!

Coach got ejected--had a pretty good meltdown!  But when he came back onto the field later in the game AFTER having been ejected, that was the kiss of death!  2 game suspension.  The UNC director of Athletics went public that it was an excessive punishment.  ESPN is now showing the rule about post-ejection behavior.  The UNC DA should go crawl under a rock!

At any level, a manager/coach who comes on the field after he's been ejected has created grounds for game suspension and forfeit.  JMO.

here is the view at 1:17 for the whole play with all fielders and umpires clearly in view. you can watch the 2nd baseman's reaction to the ball being hit and then moving in to make the catch or not. no umpire appears to even flinch with giving the infield fly signal.

now, whether you can IR the play and have an infield fly enforced retroactively, without the umpires signalling infield fly(batter out), i would not know NCAA protocall, and also whether placement of runners put at a disadvantage by the call can be rectified. same for IR showing no infield fly, but showing intentionally dropped ball (batter out) and can all actions that put runners at a disadvantage be rectified. apparently another call (runner interference 2nd inning) in the game had been made to get the coach all fired up before this one.

I think it took until this morning for the broadcasters (ESPN) to even mention the term "ordinary effort."

Where's Joe Morgan when you need him?

i found out the 2nd inning call was a bases loaded UNC FPSR call on their runner. it was IR'd and call was upheld.

naturally, that usual 15 minute highlight film of games where one might?? see this has not appeared on youtube yet.

anyone got that FSRP call in the 2nd inning out there?

It's 26 minutes into the ESPN replay. I can't try to trim the video enough to post right now but here's a still photo as F6 has ball and is starting to throw to 1B.
