LL Majors. Top 4. None on, one out. Rung up the batter on a called third strike pretty much right down the middle, 2-2 count. Each called strike the batter showed visible frustration...right after the 3rd strike he turned out of the batters box and slammed his bat two-handed into the ground, like he was chopping wood with an axe. Walked into the dugout and threw his bat and helmet. I walked down the 3rd base line to the HC and told him #26 is ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, calm and no drama from HC...he told Joey to pack up his gear and go sit with his parents, he was done. No screaming parents, no waiting to confront me after the game...had to say I was a bit surprised by that. Figured it would be worse.

That no one pushed back makes it likely coach and parents have been working the issue with no luck and you did them a favor. Good on ya.

Love this part. Well done. Great game management/demeanor - no drama from you. Likely a reason why there was no drama elsewhere. Will remember your example in my own work.

I commend you for ejecting calmly and moving on. The kid already made a mistake. Everyone saw it, and he'll likely have some consequence for it. No need for the umpire to draw more negative attention to the guy.

And as others have said, part of the reason you likely didn't receive guff for the ejection was that the parents, coaches, and other players had no reason to argue. They saw what the kid was doing. And it's a good chance that the kid was breaking his own team's rules, so you just made it easier for the coach and parents to do what they need to.

I got tossed when I was in BR after slamming my bat on a called 3rd when I was not ready in the box and had been asking for time.  He told me after strike 3 when I said "WHAT? I asked for time"

PU  " Well I do not have to grant it"

I slammed my bat on the ground and he ran me.

yep I was mad..  no coach had ever explained to me that a PU does not have to grant time when asked. I learned a valuable lesson that day.  I hope the kid you tossed did too.

btw nice way to handle it.
