Runner already out

Guest CarrTXump

Question

Guest CarrTXump

Dixie rules t-ball

-runner on first

batter hits line drive to 3rd gets out, doesnt know he is out runs to first

runner on first tags up as batter gets to first as well as throw from 3rd which is missed at first. Both runners advance to second. Already out Batter in lead, in play runner 5-7 feet behind. Throw back to pitcher who runs down lead runner as he rounds toward 3rd. Legal runner safe at second.

Whats correct way to handle?
runner out due to interference by out batter?
send runner back to first?

runner safe at second, legal result of play?

Dude, its t-ball.  The correct answer is enjoy the little tykes and quit worrying about it.

And for the love of all things great and small ... don't EVER bring umpires into t-ball.

1) Laugh

2) Tell the "lead runner" -- good hustle!

3) Tell the pitcher -- way to chase and make a tag!

4) Tell the trailing runner -- way to read the play; good hustle

5) Laugh

6) Get the snacks ready

7) tell both teams -- here we go.  Be ready

Don’t confuse random number theory with conscious action of a 4/5 yr old.

Our local t-ball (no, not perfect) everyone bats every inning. Everyone gets a single except the last hitter who gets a home run (it’s shocking how it happens every time). The defense is fundamentally sound as they never give up a steal, no runner ever goes first to third, or second to home or advances on a wild pitch.

‘oh, and there is no scoreboard. If the kids can’t count, why should the adults?

On a more serious note:

T-ball should not have umpires, because it should not be in the least competitive. It should not be a proxy competition for aging, fattening daddy coaches. And it should never, ever, provoke argument of any description.

T-ball should introduce little kids to the most basic fundamentals of baseball: hitting a ball, throwing, and catching.

And above all: it should be constantly, unremittingly, hilariously fun for everyone there.

Were I king of the world, we'd never see a T-ball question on this forum (maybe a funny story or video). The fact that we do see them reflects a range of sad facts about our culture, how it raises its children, and the diminishing value of baseball.

Sign that 3rd base tee baller to an mlb contract!

Forget that its tball, what if it happened in older divisions. Looking for an answer on how to call it.

In your initial post, you asked for tball specifically...we've got some amazing umpires here you should stick around but, we're not mind readers.

The nomenclature we use here to indicate the common baseball rule sets are LL (Little League), FED (NFHS, the high school rule book), NCAA (college) and OBR (Official Baseball Rules). We also have umpire brothers here who work Babe Ruth, PONY and countless other youth travel and adult recreational leagues...

Going forward, if you would like a ruling across all or multiple rule sets, feel free to say, "...all rule sets?" or "...any variances on this across all rule sets?"
