Covid mask

Does anyone have a suggestion on what type of Covid mask to wear under an umpire face mask when working the plate? I’m going to have to wear one for college baseball this spring and everything I’ve tried so far is a fail. On most of them my mask pads just slide up onto my mouth. Does anybody know if you can get the grey panel ones the mlb guys wore this summer? Thanks!

I used this one from UA this summer and fall, and it worked great for me. Adjustable straps helped a lot with the problem you seem to be experiencing.

I have also thought about trying the one seen worn by a couple of the college football coaches, it is supposed to be made in a way to help with being able to be heard when speaking.

I'm using a gaitor that's doubled over. Worked fine this summer and fall during games.

I'm buying a UL gaiter when I order from UA with this exact idea in mind. (Now just to decide between light blue nd black.)

On the bases, I'm thinking of going normal mask. 32 Degrees makes a nice light one that you can get a 4 pacl at Costco for around $10.

Since I can maintain at least 6 ft at just about all times, I think I can safely go without it most of the time and only use it when I get inside that 6ft circle.

6 feet is a completely ambiguous, whimsical number.

I actually agree with you here. But who actually trys to do 6ft. Guaranteed that 6ft is actually closer than a lot of people think it is.

But I will stand as far away as instructed in order to have baseball again.

Wearing with sunglasses gets problematic due to fogging, just like any other face-covering mask. See, now using a visor in your umpire mask gets even more important! And, who's the guy who has his own one-off visor for a FM4K / FM5K??! Hmmmmmm??!!!

The advantage to this one, though, over any others is that it stays in place even while putting-on / taking-off one's umpire mask... and it keeps your neck and back-o-yer-head from getting sunburned.

I'm going to try the maks that U-A sells (I wore them for football), and I'm also going to try out a gaiter. We have been "highly encouraged" to wear them at the plate and were told they were outright optional in the bases.

Does anyone have any recommendations for anti-fogging? I've seen some little contraptions that they say will work. And then locally, Stark Vacuums has introduced a mask that has an extention that is supposed to stop fogging.

Masks that have an insert in the upper seam that allows the user to make a more complete seal are far better at preventing glass fogging. KN95 and N95 masks have this feature as do some commercially available fabric masks. The wire insert is exceptionally malleable and will adapt to most faces.

Mrs Kevin_K has made a boat load of these masks and they work exceptionally well. She also designed them so they have thin elastic that goes around our heads and necks rather than tugging on the backs of our ears. We both work in schools and are required to wear them at all times when in the school. By the end of the day my ears felt like they were being stabbed so she pulled an @MadMax by pulling apart other masks, finding their best features, broke out her domestic power tools, and built a better mouse trap.

This is basically what the mask made by Stark Vacuums (local to me so I should really pop in to look at them for use on the bases eventually.) Then there are all the "better mouse trap" contraptions I keep seeing ads for on Facebook and such. I'm not even close to being sure if they actually work or are just money grabs.
