Run or not

Question

Guest cris133400@yahoo.com

Two outs runner on third and two strikes on batter. When pitcher is in windup the runner on third breaks for home and slides in just prior to pitched ball crossing plate for strike 3.

Does run count as run scored before out was executed or is it a past ball scenario on strike three where out is recorded at first and run doesnt count.

Wow ... just wow.

I’m going with the run does NOT score in NFHS.

It's not a run in any code of baseball or softball that I've heard of.  The batter made the third out on the play.  Think of it this way...if the batter had put the ball in play and got thrown out at first would the run count, simply because the runner crossed the plate before the batter got out?

The only way the run can count is if the straight steal was so awesome that R3 managed to cross the plate before the pitcher even started his pitching motion.  If he crosses the plate and then F1 threw the pitch, run counts.  If he crosses the plate while F1 is pitching, or while the pitch is in flight, then the run doesn't count if the batter makes the third out on that pitch.
