Dropped 3rd strike/Dead ball

Hello guys, it's the french-canadian again...

2 questions on 2 different plays...

1)The batter has two strikes. The pitch hits the dirt in front of the plate. The batter swings and misses the ball. The catcher catchs the rebound. Is it a strike out and the batter is out? Is it a dropped third stike and the batter can go to first?

2) There's a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs. The batter hits softly on the first base line. It's a fair ball. The batter/runner touches the ball while running to first. The runner on 3rd base scores. The batter/runner is declared out because he touched the ball. Is it a dead ball or the play continues? Can the runner on 3rd score?

1) If 1B was not occupied at time of pitch either less than 2 outs or 1B occupied and there were 2 outs  that was an uncaught third strike and the batter needs to be put out. He can run to 1B. 

2) With less than 2 outs that’s interference and the batter is out and the runner is returned to 3B.

Since that was wrapped up so quickly, I’ll ask a French-Canadian question:

I know there are three metric quarters in a hockey game ... How many outs are there in a metric inning?

What happens if the runner on 3rd as time to cross the plate before the interference is called. Is the run good?

No. This is not a time play. The runner is returned to his time of pitch base when interference is called before the batter has reached first base as in your OP. There is an intervening play clause that does not apply in your OP.

It is better to think of it as an "uncaught" third strike (non attrapé?) - that avoids most of the confusion that "dropped" third strike creates.
