Infield fly

Question

Guest Austin

Runners on first and second no outs. Batter hits a low squib line drive. Umpire calls infield fly. The batted Ball hits the runner advancing to second. What’s the call?  Thanks

Batter out - runner out.

Not sure I like that call on a line drive ... but yeah.

The batter was out on the umpire’s call.  However it is still a live ball and runners move at their own peril.  R1 is out on the contact with the ball, and now the play is immediately dead.  R2 stays on second base, where he started (if he even went anywhere).

I'm assuming a humpback.  One of those "when they were halfway up they were neither up nor down" ones.

I guess...We always called a little grounder with a lot of english/spin on it that you weren't sure which way it would hop squib.
