I was wondering if you guys and girls out there could help me out in figuring out Wolf's mask. I know it's a Nike ti but in the picture the frame looks a little wide at the edges. He's my favorite umpire and he wears one of the greatest masks around.

It's an implied question:

Can you help me figure out his mask configuration?

It is, as you even said, a Nike Titanium.

Those are blacked-out Team Wendy pads, more than likely.

Keep in mind that Nike masks, both Titanium and Steel, are made in exceedingly small batches, perhaps maybe no more than a dozen at a time. I would even venture that they are perhaps done by hand or at least a small niche shop. The planform used (the geometric blueprint) is likely fairly "organic", in that the metal-crafter has a degree of latitude that a production machine doesn't entertain. I have two Nike Steel masks, and while you look at them individually, there's no doubt they are Nikes... but if you hold them up side by side, they don't look identical. The Steels bend "easier" than the Titaniums, certainly, but Wolf may have requested his Titanium to be broader and shallower than another one, or the one he was issued just happened to be broader and shallower than the majority of the rest, and he kept it.

That's a Wilson throat guard he has attached over the extended chin guard.

Hey, @Stk004, I'm nothing if not thorough.

This was posted by a fellow U-E member:
nike and plus pos.jpg

That's a +POS ZRO-G on the left, a Nike Titanium on the right.

The wires are solid, but if you notice, they're flattened or faceted. This mask is very likely aluminum, as China has a plethora of aluminum as a resource. The low PPU also suggests it's not a more "exotic" metal, such as magnesium alloy. It might be steel, but again, my guess is aluminum.

The planform is quite similar to the Nike masks, but that narrower chin guard is much more similar to the +POS ZRO-G. My guess would be that the manufacturing conglomerate that executes +POS's masks has either shopped or shared out the planform and another plant is doing it, or they themselves are doing it. The Chinese have next to no scruples about copying designs, blueprints and planforms. That titanium one @kylejt pointed out very likely is titanium, but it is using a planform from several years ago – it actually smacks of an older +POS mask called the BB69: http://www.pluspos.com/baseball-umpire-equipment/umpire-masks/bb69 .

If someone was motivated on getting titanium masks produced to the same spec as the Nike Titanium, and willing to sacrifice a Steel or Titanium to be the carved up and used as the template, there is more than likely a Chinese manufacturer that will produce  the masks for you. As you can see, 300 units is likely a minimum quantity run.

About a year and a half ago a person from my other job said he hadn't umpired in forever, and gave me his old gear. Included was this mask frame (no pads or harness) and I can't figure out what make/model it is. It looks a lot like an All-star or Rawlings, but I haven't found any exact matches. Any ideas?

I’m looking for a good low profile chest protector with SMALL shoulder pads. I’m about 5’6, 160 with an athletic build. I currently wear the Champion Body Armor, which is a good fit, but the shoulder pads are too big. I’ve tried the Wilson Gold, but the shoulder pads still seem too big. Maybe I’m trippin’, but I think I look like a linebacker. Any help would be much appreciated.

Does anyone have any Wilson mask harnesses they don't want? I know they aren't that popular but I like them and need some for back-up masks.

I have a brand new Adidas Icon for sale that I bought on impulse and I just don't need it. I bought it new a month ago and have never worn it in a game. Pics available upon request. I already trashed the pads but I have the original harness if you happen to want it. I also have an extra one of Ray's elastic (not neoprene) harnesses I can throw in if you want. $80. Free shipping. PayPal F&F.

I've seen some discussion of the Estabrook type combo on the forum and want to test out some thinking on it. My motivation, of course, is to find as good protection as possible realizing that concussions will always be a risk.
It appears from the forums that he is using a Rawlings Coolflo Matte Style Alpha Sized Base Coach Helmet (https://www.amazon.com/Rawlings-Coolflo-Matte-Style-Helmet/dp/B010R05ONA). I am seeking opinions on combining this with one of the Unequal inserts -- either the Solo (https://unequal.com/solo/) or Uncap HDR (https://unequal.com/uncap-hdr/) to add to the protection. Based on what I've read in the forums, I am also considering modifying my current mask to add a DeltaFlex facemask harness (https://www.all-starsports.com/fmhpro.html) to make it easier to one-hand my mask onto the helmet.
Has anyone done this or something similar?  I am concerned less with how this looks as how it will work. One forum mentioned that the bill of this helmet might push the mask out too far. Comments (and please no "if you are afraid to get hit maybe you should find something else to do with your time")
