Not often since they changed the rule a couple of years ago.  Before that (when it was "on the dirt", and the first time wasn't a warning) it was pretty frequent.

So he was warned once before this in the game?

To answer my own question I watched him on MLBtv in the 8th and 9th of that game. He would give you fits in the 8th. It's like 3 card monte when he takes the rubber. Hand mouth, wipe knuckles on pants,  touch cap, put ball in glove, mouth again, go to ball, put ball back, wipe, all the while taking or on the rubber.

I saw 2 or 3 times he should have been warned in the 8th. When it was called in the 9th one set of announcers mentioned a "little" warning in the 8th.
