Strange watching a game without the score, inning, up/down arrow, count and outs on the screen! Oh Yeah and not having Vin Scully calling the play by play! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When I watch games like this, I sincerely wonder if umpiring, in general, is better now than back then.  I don't mean today's ML umpires against those guys, but I mean today's really good amateur umpires -- how would they match up against the ML umpires of the 1950s.

Great post, things I noticed comparing to today's game -

1. Umpires aren't stopped to make calls

2. You can tell this was NL, as the plate ump had an inside protector, AL was using balloons in to the 70's.

3. They don't throw out baseballs every other pitch

4. Batters are stepping in and going to work - no watching signals and scratching themselves for 10 minutes.

5. Ump starting positions and rotations are the same (basically) as today
