Since imitation is the best form of flattery, I have bee thinking of imitating the mask that Jeff (@Thunderheads) posted on the equipment forum not far back. I got the same mask through his and @catcher recommendarions. Was one of the lucky ones to find a Sypder throat guard here in the US. Got the Team Wendy pads as well. And yes I know Jeff used specially made All Star pads

What I am really wondering, is that I really like the look of the sun visor on it. But does it actually do any good or is it just for ascetics? I imagine here in the Pacific Northwest, the visor could help redirect some of the rain off the visor of my cap. But when/if it does get sunny, does the visor help with sun glare?

I have them on all my masks, I think they reflect some heat away.....but even if it is just for the way it looks,......  who cares, I like it.......

I like the look as well, just get it if you like it.

I dig how it looks online. Not sure in person. Never even thought about using one when I caught.

I have a low profile TI mask and wish they made them for them but no one makes them for that mask.  I like them because I don't like wearing sunglasses under the mask.

I think that they work well under lights, and help keep your visor a little cooler in the day. I have used one for years, and like the look - I think it gives a clean look to the mask.

I also still catch some and it works well with the helmet/mask combination - it takes away the need for sunglasses.

The sun reflector keeps the sun off the bill of your hat, keeping a bit cooler. The trade off is that it keeps air from circulating  up there.

I've done a mini experiment, where I traded off masks, with and without it, during the same game, and the reflector seemed to keep me cooler. I didn't  get the same radiant heat from above the bill of my hat.

They're worthless as any sort of eye protection, if they're properly installed, as they don't extend far enough down below the bill of you hat. i.e. you don't actually look through the dang thing. I could see where it would work for the skull cap for catchers, though.

I have no idea why they'd be benifical in night games. Unless you wear beanies, of course. But that's a whole 'nother conversation.

Now the question becomes, do I get the grey ones or the one that looks like it has a bunch colors in it (polarized? ) I dont want the sun to reflect off of it and potentially blind some one. Also, does anyone know where to find one on the cheap? Honigs has theirs for around s9-10 and everywhere else is around $15 that I have found.

Looks like this comes out to almost $20 with shipping. (Epic Sports via Amazon comes out to almost $25 with shipping.) I almost feel like I should look around at my local stores and see if they hqve one that is less expensive. I would like to get one specifically for the FM25, but in lieu of that, the Honigs one will probably work just fine.

I'm pretty sure they're not polarized. It would be a waste, as you're not actually looking through them. They're like a sunshade you put in the windshield for your car, to keep the sun out.

I like the goldish Marquart with tan pads, and the silver Rawlings for my black pads. I've found them at my local sporting goods store, and skipped the shipping.

never seen a "grey" one.  Could you be referring to duct tape?

Damn it, why didnt I think of this. Hell, SWMBO goes to Michaels all the time. I know they have colored duct tape... what does anyone think of pink or even rainbow? :sarcasm:
