Pretty sad!

But typical of youth games.

Also typical for guys working the scissors! :fuel:

That's a good example why umpires are hard to find. A seasoned umpire wouldn't/shouldn't put up with these parents' behavior, but that kid/umpire probably didn't have the training/experience to handle those idiots. Who in their right mind would want that job if that was what was acceptable in that area.

I don't like this guys style at all. Indicator in right hand. But parent on the field??  I would have tossed that teams manager too!!

I have seen some chalk lines that drunken sailors couldn't walk!!

I tell you what, if I see a fan run onto the field, the game is stopped, people are ejected and game management is called. If that doesn't work, I call the police. Parents/fans have NO business on the field, period.

I do love a video that purports to show how bad someone else got something wrong, said person actually got it right or the video is so unclear that you can't tell what happened, and then there's the comment from the videographer or one of their companions saying "Don't worry, we've got it on film!" I'd seen this video a little while back on one of my YouTube treks through all sorts of things, and neither then nor now can I tell where the heck - or in this case, where the "flip" - the ball is on the critical play.

Having 4 "coaches" or "daddys" all come running on the field and approaching at one time pointing and making a scene is an Auto EJ!

That being said, this U1 has alot of Game Management skills that he needs to work on.

Agreed, I couldn't pick the ball up either. I believe it was down the line and judging where it looks like he picks it up, it's on the line, which makes him correct. The fans are probably correct that it was on the foul side of the line at some point but the umpire has it coming back. I think the guy that comes on the field is actually the manager, and if so he has no business where he was.

From the reaction of the obnoxious moms, I tend to agree at some point the ball was foul but was picked up fair or at least on the chalk. Gotta love obnoxious parents who don't know rules. Had a bunch today screaming at me to send R1 back to 1st after stealing 2nd on a foul tip. They were all screaming.."It's a foul tip, he has to go back!!"  :rollinglaugh:

It seems as if the coach comes from the defense's bench. Sure, his mechanics are sub-par, but it looks as if he made the right call.

I probably would have dumped him too.

I once was doing a Legion game, and some guy came running in from the bench area, he had no team colors on, no hat, nothing identifying him as belonging to any of the teams. He was screaming and yelling about a call my partner made in the field. I promptly ejected him, and began looking for game management or security. I had no idea who he was and the field was not in a very nice neighborhood. During the discussion I asked coach who attended the plate meeting who that guy was, and he apparently was the head coach.I told the assistant coach, he was the head coach today....LOL

What it also appears is that part of the argument was either it was in foul territory in the beginning as pointed out earlier or it hit the plate which was mentioned by one parent in the video.  You have to love participant ignorance.  They want their kids in the game but do not bother learning the rules of the game so they can teach their kids how to play it effectively.  Too many coaches and players don't know these things and hinder themselves when it does come up.  If they already knew, this would have resulted in an out.

I'm just wondering what were the offensive coaches doing at the plate.  Those 2 had no business from the beginning.  And, the DM who got EJ should have been EJ long before it actually came.  The moment he turned back around to point where the ball was AGAIN, he would have been gone if not the first time depending on what he said when he did it.

I just want to point out that if you look at all of the comments under the video on YouTube...I was the first one to post.   :notworthy:

I don't get what all the hoopla is about here? I wish my mechanics were as solid as the guy from the video.... :sarcasm:

The fans in this video piss me off though. The best/worst part of the whole thing is the comment made by one mom and then seconded by a few others about how the ball hit the plate so it should have been foul even if it was on the line or something like that. Where in the world did the misconception that a ball hitting the plate automatically makes it foul ever start? if anyone knows who the first person to say that was please tell me so I can knock on their door and punch them in the throat.

Beside the fact that it is simple logic the home is fair, anybody who has ever lined a field, which is almost every coach alive, knows the lines come from the point of the plate. That means the  :censored: thing is fair.

Probably from when its foul when it hits the batter while he's still in the box. If you stop and think about it, a majority of the time the ball bounces off the plate before contacting the batter. Fans/coaches/players quickly put 2+2 together and get 5.
