This is not the best view of this, as there were numerous other views during the game.  Looks like what Davidson saw was Fielder sliding to the outside of the plate and never touching it (generically speaking) ......... Fielder beat the throw and tag .... but .......

Wow, look at how that lead left foot is completely in the air above the plate/not touching the plate, yet all the fans think that foot is on the plate and therefor safe by a mile. Did that tucked under right foot touch the plate at :45 before the tag on the hamstrings of the left leg? That is where the play is.

I agree with this ^^^^

 

Could be a case of "slider incompetence."

That's what I'm looking for ....the other views from that game, they had a bunch, but MLB just posted this one .....
