Me like! Excellent timing.

Watch the final replay and watch what Kellog is watching. This had the opportunity to make him look pretty bad if he were too quick on the draw.

A Call of the Week contender.

Poetry in motion.  Not only seeing the ball drop, but also seeing and showing that you saw the touch of home and making the safe call, negating the need for any kind of argument about the touch.  Outstanding!

Haha... Sounds like the first announcer had bad timing on the play!  Just as the runner scores, "No, he didn't tag him....he avoided the tag."

Then, the other announcer comments on the replay and gets it right.

Look at :44 for those who may have to work a 4 man for the first time. 3BU is getting into HOK position to watch for tag up, and 2BU from outfield had to get on his horse to go to 1st base for anything there (remember the other post where the 1B caught the runner on a wide turn that turned into a time-play). Although no play materialized, if this had ended up a short hop catch/no catch or the ball dropped and the fielder picked it up real quick, that 2BU would have the call at 1B if the 1B cut the throw to get the BR on the turn at first and hoping the runner from 3rd dogs it on the time play. Many times a lot of movement is absolutely essential for all members of the crew even though the play that could happen never materializes. That haul from the outfield to 1st for that backdoor play on a wide turn is one tough puppy to make, at least to be near the cutout at 1B. B position might be the best one could do.

"He avoided the tag."  No, actually, he got tagged and the catcher dropped the ball.  Not quite what I call the same thing!

3A state tourney game Saturday.....runner and throw are coming in together, i know immediately it's not gonna be good.  Runner comes in, throw is there......*POOF* cloud of dust.  ***Mask in left hand and pointing at the catcher****....."SHOW ME THE BALL".  He can't.  Apparently it squirted away from him.

Big fat F'n SAFE call

I was proud of my patience.  The runner was dead to rights and the throw beat him by a good full step.  Had the catcher hung on, it would have been an out.  Really glad i waited to see the outcome before calling it.       T I M I N G !
