Just thinking... do you think a specific section just for videos would work? Technology is overrunning us and there seem to be vids for almost everything. It would consolidate MOST of the videos scattered across all of the other threads into a more central location, and they could even be sorted by basic content, such as, Mechanics & Training, Baseball Humor, What's The Call?, etc.  A U-E YouTube of sorts. It would be up to the poster to decide if they wanted the video in this section or another, but... just thinking out loud.

Being the video whore (for MLB plays) I've inquired about this also.

 

The problem that I see happening is Warren would have to create an entirely new section for videos, and then subjections for subjects .....but I'll let him chime in...

I don't like the idea of a  "video" section.  

 

I like checking out the videos as situation arise.

I gotta disagree.   Jocko had it right the first time.   Ump-tube. 

 

A MASSIVE library of videos all in the same spot and organized by tags so it can be searched by play, level, category, etc.   There is TONS of info on this site and the videos are very hard to find. 

 

You can still have your regular posts with embedded videos as they occur, but with a little diligence or maybe an automated tool, a copy of the URLs can be moved to a video repository.

3U calls OBS(b), PU calls the runner out then reverses the call and awards the run after getting the signal from 3U.  Good communication.

Subject: You Make The Call    

    

Runner on first base is stealing on a 3-1 or 3-2 count. Batter check-swings on a pitch that is called a ball. What should the umpire at second base do?

Should he:

(a) Call the runner safe/out?

(b) Call "Time" and award the runner second base?

© Tell the third base umpire to rule no swing? (Joking of course!)

(d) Nothing

The answer is basically do nothing other than watch the play, announce that it is ball four, watch for the check-swing ruling, and be ready to call the runner out at second if the check-swing is ruled a swing (strike).

Umpires need to be alert to these situations and be thinking ahead, anticipating a play such as this, exactly as this umpire did!

Notice the umpire makes no call but observes the play, then points to the base and tells the runner to stay there. He then waits for the check-swing appeal and is prepared to call the runner out (demonstratively!) at second if the check-swing was ruled a strike (swing).

By the way, check-swing appeal was properly ruled no swing on this play, but the umpire was ready at second.

Let me see what I can come up with. It seems like you all are asking for a unique videos section which is searchable, and able to be categorized. I like it. 

 

I have an idea, but let me see how plausible it is.

Here's a screen shot of my video library.  It's just under 4 GB of clips used for review.  I update it in the summer, as you'll see there's only an NCAA 2012 folder, b/c I haven't started gathering my NCAA 2013 clips, 2013 baseball season hasn't started yet, etc...
