I don't think I have ever seen that in my lifetime! So the BU had to watch and make sure the glove wasn't off before the ball hit i, and he had to watch and see that the ball was controled once the glove was caught. Simply amazing.

the criteria for a catch is the same regardless, once the fielder has control of the batted ball and voluntarily releases it (or displays it as he did). Under OBR there is a section in the detached equipment rules that states if the force of the batted ball knocks the glove off of a fielders hand that it is not to be considered detached equipment (and it wasn't), and it would be no different than any other time that a ball bounces off a fielder and is subsequently caught before the ball touches the ground either by that fielder or another fielder, same result, caught ball, batter out.

It's only a detatched equipment violation if the fielder deliberately throws the glove at the ball and hits it. This wasn't the case so the timing doesn't matter.

What if it's a HS. game. Dead ball, no catch if it is lodged, correct?

If ti was lodged then yes but this wasn't lodged plus there s a difference in FED between lodged and temporarily stuck and I think Id still get the out here.

The FED prohibition is mostly used in the case where the glove is trhown to complete a force out (or an out at first on the batterrunner).
