Anyone notice how porter was startling the line???

I might of noticed that but since I dont know what "startling the line" means I'm not really sure

I think it means he scared the be-Jesus out of it!

Porter has gotten some bad press lately, but I think he is one of the many good up and coming guys.

When I look at these plays I try to think what could have been done differently.

Was it positioning? For the play as it presented itself I think he was in good positioning. It appeared he had the "textbook" 90^o positioning. Could he have been a step or 2 foul and got a better read, possibly? But overall good positioning.

Was it timing? I don't think so. You can even see he leans over to see the fielder before making the call. By then he has it in his meat hand, and he can only assume he had transferred it.

The play itself blocked him out. For those of you who have worked in the U3 position while you don't get that many plays, they are tougher. It is not just the mirror image of 1st.

The better positioning for this would have been 2 more steps to his right. The best thing would have been to stand up so he could react quicker. That would be the only thing I'd say he could have done differently. Main thing would be to STAND UP and BE MOBILE.
