My first U/E umpiring meeting

I just wanted to say I got to meet my first umpire from U/E. I have met others from the internet but the first from here. Larry came down from NJ for a golf trip with some of his buddies. We got together to watch some baseball. We missed the local A team by a day so we watched some of the local adult league. Larry is a great guy and I happy to meet him. It's always good to put a face to a name. Unfortunately our meeting got cut short by lightning.

I got thinking about it later. I am assigning an USSSA tournament in Sept. It might be a good time to get the guys that are close enough to come and work some games together. I think I could get the TD to comp the rooms. He has to bring guys up anyway, might as well be us.

I've been trying to figure out a way of starting this thread (secretly hoping Mike would). Mike is a great host and I would have enjoyed spending more time with him. We got to watch a couple of innings of good adult baseball before the lightening started.

Walking with Mike around the complex makes you feel special as everyone knows him and obviously has a lot of respect for him.

My friends thought I was going to bring my equipment with me to work a game. Not a bad thought...

I would love to take Mike up on his offer. I work football in September, but would be willing to give up a Saturday to work with him. :nod:

Cool, that's three maybe five. There's a couple from Md that may want weigh in. Wayne is local and worked last time, I expect he will again.

I wish I were a little closer to your area. Google maps shows it to be about 8.5hr drive from the Charlotte, NC area. Great idea for those of you that are close enough.

It should be U/E, meaning Umpire-Empire but I typed it backwards. I don't know how to change a topic after it is posted. I did the same thing with the lightning thread. I screwed them both up and can't fix it.

I think you can change it by editing the first post, then clicking "Go Advanced" and edit the subject. I think this works, but I haven't tried it here yet.
