Extremely comfortable...even as a youngster I ALWAYS hated wearing a cup...always found them to be a real pain...in multiple ways...I knew there was no choice when working behind the plate though...so I did my research and decided to fork over the dough for the NB....boy am I glad I did. This wears NOTHING like my old cups of the past...as has been said by others...by the end of the game I sometimes forget I'm even wearing it. I can't say that I have had to take a serious shot with it yet...but there's enough evidence out there that, if I do, it will provide the best protection that you can buy.

Been using the nutty-buddy for 3 years. It is the best protection made. It is also more comfortable and easy to remove. Not like those cups in the jocks that you can't get in or out without a struggle.

I have purchased one and worn it for about 10 games now.
Unlike a regular cup, it is so comfortable I forget I have it on.
One Free Standard Cup available, just pay shipping and handling.

After looking at the reviews here, I decided to give it a try. I must say, it looks different and it feels different. This is one of the best cups I've ever had and I think I'm have it for a long time. It's one of the only ones that I've had that I didn't have to continually adjust it around. A little high in the price but a worth while investment.

I received my nutty buddy in the mail yesterday and am extreamly satisfied with the product. I immediently had to try it on and the comfort was great. The desing forms to the shape of your legs and body. I was skeptical about the "floating" aspect of it but after having it on for a couple hours im convinced it will get the job done. I actually forgot i had it on it was so comfortable. Definitly worth the price , nobody should put a limit on protecting the boys. With the season around the corner i will update on the durability and protection after i put it to use. If your even slightly thinking about trying one out, dont hesitate its definitly worth it.

This is the most comfortable cup I have ever worn. By the end of the game, I forget that I have it on.

Wore mine for the first time tonight the mongo it was the best 20 dollars I have ever spent. I bought 2 jocks for 10 bucks and wore it over my compression tights. If you are thinking about it just buy it. It moves around and gives great protection. I am looking for someone to buy my old cup any takers

Incredible cup... I wear it for playing and umping and couldn't be happier. I hate to wear other cups and the compression shorts + cup + jock system works incredibly.
With all the other protection you have to wear to be an umpire, why worry about something as trivial as a cup. The Nutty Buddy is plain and simple the best cup out there. I've taken many a shot to the cup and lived to tell the tale thanks to the nutty buddy.
Just got cup checked today by a couple of the guys in the locker room (as a player, not an ump), and it didn't hurt a bit!

Got my nutty buddy the other day. I can't stand the traditional curved cups that everyone sells now. I used to use the "ump cup" that was a navy blue version of the old school "banana cup" it was getting old and I needed something new. I got one of the XO athletic flex cups but it did not feel right. So I decided to spend a little money and go with the nutty buddy...while I not ready to stand in front of a pitching machine with it on yet, I really do like it.

I am wearing it with ankle length tights and the jock that they recommend. I had to order one size lager in the jock...they run small in the waist...but it still feels pretty good. I will update my review after I get the larger jock to wear with it next week.

I would recommend this is if you are like me and do not the feel of the traditional cup. It does take a little getting used to since I am not used to wear a jock and have been wear the tights with the floating cup pocket for years. I like it so much I am probably going to cut the cup pockets out of my tights soon.

Below is a review I posted on my blog midwestump.blogspot.com. There are more pictures of the product on the blog.

It is rare to find a product in the umpiring world that is so revolutionary and superior that it makes other similar products simply obsolete. The introduction of lightweight alloy masks and hard shell protectors are two such improvements that made umpiring a safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable activity.

I believe the Nutty Buddy protective cup is an improvement that can be classified in this “revolutionary” group. The good people at Nutty Buddy, Inc. were kind enough to provide a Nutty buddy "Mongo" for my testing and review (special thanks to Lina Rott). I was able to test it out during two January indoor scrimmages at a midwest Division I college.

    SHAPE
The first thing you notice is that it is not shaped like a traditional protective cup which are like narrow triangles. The Nutty Buddy claims to be “anatomically correct.” I claim that it is very comfortable to wear. In fact, I don’t think I adjusted the cup once. It fits snugly and comfortably in the right areas. The shape of the Nutty Buddy is wider and more “accommodating” in the middle of the cup. Most protective cups taper down excessively just were you need protection the most.

    WEAR
The Nutty Buddy is worn with a mid-thigh brief or compression shorts underneath and a normal jock over the top of the briefs or shorts. The Nutty Buddy is placed between the brief and jock so it can adjust or "float" with the movement of your body.

A word of caution: follow the instructions for proper wear. In the first game I forgot my jock and wore the Nutty Buddy between my compression shorts and underwear. It was uncomfortable and tended to slide down making the cup protrude awkwardly. In the second game I wore the Nutty Buddy as recommended and it was incredibly comfortable – more comfortable than any other protective cup I have worn.

    COMPOSITION
The Nutty Buddy is made of a very durable plastic. Unfortunately (I suppose unfortunate for purposes of this article) the division one pitchers and catchers did an excellent job protecting the umpire during my test of this product – consequently no groin shots. To test the Nutty Buddy’s protective aspects I asked my wife to hit the Nutty Buddy with a baseball bat. Really. No joke. After a few progressively more violent swings I was satisfied with the test, but for some reason my wife wanted to continue the experiment. . . I should probably take her to dinner soon. . .

Anyhow, the Nutty Buddy absorbed the groin shots and transferred very little of the impact to my body. Because of the superior “accommodating” design the Nutty Buddy offers more complete protection than a traditional cup. If you want to see Mark Littell test the Nutty Buddy there are plenty of videos like this one on

    OPINION
Frankly, even if it was only as good as a traditional design cup, I would recommend the Nutty Buddy for its superior comfort. Craig Coppola of Nutty Buddy, Inc. tells me that a number of professional (and MLB) umpires are wearing the Nutty Buddy and give positive feedback. The cost is $19.95 plus shipping for the Nutty Buddy, and their website also sells compression shorts and jocks called "The Package."
