  1. The poly-wools are truly the best. For most games, I use Gerry Davis charcoals. But for the bigger league match-ups and other premier assignments, I wear the poly-wools. They definitely must be dry-cleaned and that is a hassle and added expense that I reserve for the big games. I also am somewhat afraid to ruin them at $100.00 per (shipped and hemmed). The key words in Dave's post were "look" and "professional." He absolutely can't make a more important point. If you want to look as good as possible when you walk out onto a field to umpire a ballgame, get these slacks.
  2. They're the best I have seen or worn. I get drilled with straight, uncaught high-80s fastballs and I do not feel a thing. It's not like when you get drilled the Honig's or other ordinary shins, where you feel like your kneecap is cracked. It's absolutely the best protection you would ever require. I stole mine in an ebay auction that nobody else participated in, but even at regular price, I would jump at them.
  3. This mask is as great as Dave says it is. The comfort level is optimal. It comes with the lightest, softest pads I have ever worn. I have both profiles. I use them both. It's a worthwhile expense indeed.
