  1. I’m in Utah so the mountains eat into our time as well. But we just say that once the sun is behind the horizon that it is too dark. It is the only standard that is objective. People don’t like it and they fight it but it’s the most objective way to handle it.
  2. The traditional mask seems like it would have great visibility. I think it looks cooler than the Under Armor too.
  3. If only I had known this before I got mine powder coated to cover up a chip
  4. Sorry for the delayed response- but NFHS 3-3-1(f)6 6. any member of the coaching staff who is not the head coach (or designee) in 3-2-4 leaving the vicinity of the dugout or coaching box to dispute a judgment call by an umpire. penalty: For violation of f(6) both the head coach and offending coach shall receive a written warning and be restricted to the dugout for the remainder of the game unless the offense is so severe the umpire may eject the offender and restrict or eject the head coach. OBR 8.02(a) 8.02 Appeal of Umpire Decisions (a) Any umpire’s decision which involves judgment, such as, but not limited to, whether a batted ball is fair or foul, whether a pitch is a strike or a ball, or whether a runner is safe or out, is final. No player, manager, coach or substitute shall object to any such judgment decisions. Rule 8.02(a ) Comment: Players leaving their position in the field or on base, or managers or coaches leaving the bench or coaches box, to argue on BALLS AND STRIKES will not be permitted. They should be warned if they start for the plate to protest the call. If they continue, they will be ejected from the game. So it's not saying that they can't ever leave their positions, but that they can't leave their positions to argue judgement. It's very important as an umpire to make sure you warn them as they start to leave.
  5. Not that one exactly. The one I got was directly from Arbiter and did not include the first two pages from the law firm.
  6. I guess I was the lucky Utahan then... I did get the email from Arbiter.
  7. Just curious, I tried HIBP and found some breaches of my email accounts in the past, but it didn't list the Arbiter breach. Is that just due to a delay in reporting?
  8. I would argue that coaches are in fact confined. The rules state that a manager can be ejected specifically for leaving their position to argue a judgement call. This ^^
  9. I actually had this situation this weekend. Runner on first, 1-2 count. Swinging strike 3 curve ball that bounces off the batters front foot. R1 takes off. I immediately call “TIME!” I then came out in front of the plate and said, “The ball hit his foot! That’s strike 3, He’s Out!” I then placed the runner back on first, and then went back to my position behind the plate and got things going before a coach could even think about arguing. I think I sold it pretty good cause not even a fan complained.
  10. It got brought up in the thread about the weird ball in the Orioles game, but Jomboy did a really good breakdown of this. He makes some excellent points about the hitting coach starting this fight and I wonder if MLB will say or do anything about it. Laureano didn’t do anything until the astros coach came out of the dugout, hiked up his pants and egged on the fight. I understand Laureano has the responsibility to not react but he wasn’t in the right mindset to make that decision and it sure looked like the coach left his position and that is something I would like to be aware of and notice as an umpire, good thing to look out for.
  11. I would pass on that. Thanks for the offer though.
  12. They do look really cool. They’re my second favorite plate shoe of all the ones I tried. It’s a very functional shoe.

  14. This is just a guess but zorbium might not provide enough resistance for the springs to function properly. If there is not enough resistance behind the springs then they won't compress. Thus it would basically become just a normal mask except a lot heavier. Like I said, this is just a guess and I don't have the exact math or physics to back that up.
  15. I showed my wife some cool handbags they had on sale for $25 dollars and then slipped my motherlode in there too. She doesn’t question me as much when she gets something out of it too. Plus we ordered some extras as Christmas gifts for family members who love to travel.
  16. Here are some photos of mine. I have Ray’s Harness attached now and it works very well. However before I had Ray’s I used a makeshift harness from parts of other CPs. The make shift also worked very well. I used the 1” strap that it came with and the metal triangle pieces off some older CPs that I had laying around.
  17. I don't think that is implied at all. The article is doing a compare and contrast between the covid precautions taken by different leagues. It points out MLB is being smart by implementing the 6 foot rule while some every other league seems to be looking the other way when it comes to coaches not social distancing from umpires, despite losing a considerable amount of teams to covid concerns. Gil uses very specific prepositions: "we visit the collegiate Expedition League, where a manager was ejected during a socially un-distant argument" he said "during" not "for".
  18. I have the Umplife harness on mine. Like @MadMax points out the straps are smaller than most but the umplife has fit the best.
  19. I think Dax mentioned in the video that you have to unscrew some of the rivets (Chicago screws), and if you look at the picture you can see the bottom rivets of the middle section of plates is different from the rest.
