  1. Hey sorry I forgot to update! Ended up going to Walmart and using a black leather passport holder. Works just fine. Thanks for the suggestions all.
  2. Hey everyone, all the leagues I work during the season do not have the umpires keep lineup cards. However, I work a tournament starting Friday that will require me to keep the lineup cards. I’ve done a few games where I had to keep them, and it was a pain to try to write and keep them without a holder. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a makeshift lineup card holder that I could get in person at a store (Walmart, etc.), since I am not sure if an actual umpire’s lineup card holder would get to me in time if I ordered one online. Let me know what you guys use or would use if in a bind. Thank you!

    First EJ

I thought the zone was pretty solid. First inning issues came from a couple pitches where the catcher set up off the plate outside (about in line with the chalk line) and the pitcher was hitting his spots, but they were balls. Their frustration started with a few of these pitches.

LL Majors. VT Dugout chirping all through bottom of first inning about strike zone. Come B2, the leadoff batter gets a single. Next batter squares to bunt each pitch and takes 4 straight balls. After ball 4, VT bookkeeper yells, “You wanna let us know where your strike zone is?” I put my hand up and say, “We aren’t discussing balls and strikes.” He yells back, “Well maybe we should be so you can learn how to call them.” I eject him after that statement. First one of my young career. Was this too quick a hook or did it seem right?
  5. Update: Finally received an email back saying my order was shipped. Thank goodness!!
  6. I might have to do the same thing soon.
  7. I ordered a jacket, pants, and a shirt. I ordered as a guest.
  8. I ordered two weeks ago and have received nothing and didn’t get a reply to the two emails I sent. Anyone here have a suggestion of what to do?
  9. Obviously, these MLB postseason games are officiated with six umpires. What is the protocol if an umpire is injured or cannot finish the game for some reason. Is there some sort of 5 man mechanics? Would another umpire be asked to sit out so they could go with 4 man mechanics? This question just sort of came to me last night during the ALCS game. Thanks for the help.
  10. How did each of you develop the voice projection you use for a strike call? It seems that no one actually says the word “strike” lol, just some low-pitched variation of it. Also do you point for a strike or use the hammer. Thanks!
  11. Hey everyone this is Ty. I've been a viewer of the site for a while but this is my first post. I'm a teenage ump and this was my first season of really getting into Little League, other than just doing the bases every once in a while in the past. I was asked to join my League's crew for All Stars this year and it was one of the most fun experiences of my life. I guess I must've done a decent job during the pool play rounds, as I was asked to umpire the District quarterfinals, semifinals, and District championship games, and also got the chance to work two Sectionals games after the District Championship. I was super fortunate and extremely grateful to get assigned such big games in my first year around. Next year in addition to Little League I am hoping to work some games for older leagues and just keep getting better as an umpire. Any advice is appreciated from you guys. This year I used the gear that my league owned which was not the best so tips on what to buy for myself would be awesome. Thanks everyone I'm happy to be on this site!
