  1. No... Because under OBR any ball going over a fence in fair territory less than 250' is a 2 base award.
  2. And apparently the runner was their SS and leadoff hitter.
  3. I've edited... I saw a step out... but then he came right back in. Only thing I can think of is that U1 was saying that F2 went into R? path... but there was no true attempt to avoid the contact here and I would have dumped the kid.
  4. I agree with you... Now that Missouri has finally taken Navy off the baseball field... my red under shirts are getting tossed
  5. I can see an attempt to avoid... but after looking at it more... I also see a deviation into the catcher. I'm probably going to dump the kid at real speed.
  6. Welcome to the club. I was about 2 years older that you when I started umpiring baseball, but I was around 12 when I started officiating other sports, and I also help train and mentor youth umpires when they start (youngest is 12). The biggest thing to get over is the Adult/Child dynamic when on the field. You are not a child anymore on the field and you are in charge. I will admit that I was a bit more "red assed" when I started just to make sure that the adults on the field knew I was in charge. Just don't let them run over you just because you are a "kid". You obviously have the want to get better at this craft as you have found this site. Feel free to ask questions and never stop trying to learn something every day. Find some people locally who have a good reputation and try to get advice from them. Find some guys on here as well... this is probably one of the single biggest sources of umpiring knowledge bases in the world.
  7. To me... if one would compare it to a Under Armour compression shirt... it feels looser. It is still a tight fit through the body but it isn't "squeezing" you. The sleeves also are looser. That maybe due to the raglan style.
  8. Is it just me or does this fit more like a UA "fitted" shirt than an actual compression shirt?

    Balk ?

    Yep... Start and stop.
  10. Here is a good undershirt guide. Match the last color on the sleeve of your shirt. If it is black, wear black. If it is White, wear white. If it is red, wear red. If it is navy, wear navy. The Panel shirts (current MLB) and Vertical Stripe (MiLB/NCAA Championship uniform) wear black for all of them. The striped collar/cuff shirts match the last stripe color on the sleeve. Navy = Red, Red = Navy, Powder Collar = Navy, Black Collar = Black, Cream/Grey = Black
  11. @jmadigan001 No one is every going to give you heat over the level of ball that you are working. We've ALL worked those games. Use this situation as a learning experience. Coaches don't get to tell you what to do when it comes to game management. Sometimes as a young umpire, it is better to be a little more assertive than needed just to let the coaches know that you're in charge. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
  12. The runner didn't make contact with the catcher. The catcher made contact with the runner. Depending on how the rule is actually worded would depend on the ruling. As worded here I have nothing.
  13. IFF. All other base runners are awarded 2 bases from time of pitch.
  14. I am that umpire. I wasn't before and had a situation in a JUCO game this year with a bucket... never again.
  15. 30 minutes or 10 minutes before the next start time is when I tell teams that we will be back... which ever is longer. Unless there is a league or conference policy in place.
  16. **Raises hand** But I umpired before I coached and now am solely focused on umpiring
  17. I don’t see why they don’t do that then place the new model at the price point of the F3 or something like that. West Vest Pro model. Allow you to have upgraded padding and a Razzer like harness. They customize everything now in their bat and glove line...
  18. No I agree with you... just giving a maybe if type situation
  19. Only thing I can see there is interference if a defender is coming to get the ball and the baserunner deprives him of the chance to make a play on that runner
  20. You know... it is possible that he had a little brother...
  21. It depends on if the BU went out on the ball from A, are their multiple runners, etc... So your answer is... it depends.
  22. You keep playing... it is up to everyone to know what ball is the right one.
  23. Polite response... Thank you for coming out... You asked a question about a situation that none of us were there to see and you got the best answers we could give you. But please... continue to blame the umpire for making what could have been a proper call and think he has an ego for it. Glad you can come on here, completely oblivious to the rules and interpretations and still try to sound like you're the one in the right here.
