  1. I would like Michael (our resident LL moderator) to weigh in on the INT or at least the EJ at second with the high cleats. Now we all agree that that act was dangerous and should have disqualified the kid. However do we still give him second because the ball popped out or do we call him out because of the malicious intent in the slide. Also do we not, do the the intent of the slide, now have interference on R1 and because in our judgement (maybe) there was the possibility of turning two. Thusly getting the second out. Now mind you I am stuck in FED and NCAA frame of mind since that is mainly what I do and alot of the leagues use the FPSR from either FED or NCAA in their local rule books. Help me out here with OBR or LL since its not usually something I do.
  2. Once again. I got no clue what you guys are talking about. Its been chilly here with it being partly overcast, and winds maybe up into the low teens. But the temps have been nice and steady at the mid to upper 70s. So I ask again... what is the "weather" stuff you guys are all talking about and maybe, just maybe, could you send some our way. We are having a bit of a water drought here in Los Angeles.
  3. I bought the silver diamond from Jim back in late January or early February. I instantly, due to information gained on this and other boards, removed the diamond pads and replaced them with the black wrap around pads from wilson. I found that these pads added a couple ounces to the mask and made it some what uncomfortable to wear. Luckly though I worked with a guy that had bought the titanium mask but didnt like the two tone pads it came with. He wanted just the black ones so I instantly worked out a deal to trade mask pads. I will have to say I absolutely love the new two tone wilson pads. They are nice and light and feel great on the face. I highly recommend them if you can find them seperately.
  4. are the smittys the same color charcoal as the honigs or the davis? I need a pair for HS next year and I would really rather save my poly-wools for college ball.
  5. I agree in terms of weight compared to the WV protectors. the K1 is much lighter and breathes much better. However I completely and totally disagree with the level of protection. And this is from personal experience. The WV protectors are far superior in that catagory. JMHO
  6. Im not a fan of it either. Especially if its a big time balk such as turning the shoulders after coming set or not disengaging the rubber correctly. You know, something everyone can see. But thats what the league wants so thats what they get. Just like your buddy Larry said, we dont make the rules, we just enforce them.
  7. Wish you guys were out west (or I was back east) I would totally do it.
  8. Im in both lists. Lost my job in March and have been making a living the last two and half months working games. So yes, I do do it for the money. I also do not work for free because, especially now, my time is money.
  9. nice. if I had the money I would have bid on it for nothing more than the shin guards. everything else would have been gravy.
  10. wow... thats really sad...
  11. better than saying he was calling a strike zone that looked like Oklahoma. long and thin most of the way and then calling a pitch four feet into the other batters box only at the batters belt... LOL California would be even worse. Outside corner from the eyes to the thighs and then making a 45 degree turn all the way to the ankles on the inside corner... HA HA HA... to much fun
  12. were you the seller?
  13. I love the poly-wools but the price point is a little tough to take. Sadly it is just about a requirement for college ball here in SoCal to use the poly-wool pants and next year HS is going strictly to charcoal color pants. So its either the poly-wools or the new honigs ultimate pants in charcoal for EVERYONE here in socal. And yes, I do know that GD makes a charcoal pair of pants, the problem is the color is not the same and could cause problems during evaluations.
  14. we have balks in the mustang and bronco divisions of pony baseball here in the Long Beach area. However in those levels it is a warning for the first time and then balks for the rest of the game... and this is per pitcher.
  15. yeh, thats what I ment. Sorry got a little confused briefly between Angel Campos (who worked at Dodger Stadium this past week) and Alfonso Marquez.

    Is it CI?

something Im surprised about from the OP (that no one seems to notice) is why are you asking U1 to call the CI? That would be the PU's job not U1.
  17. If I remember correctly NCAA actually had the line on the mound for a year. But they took it off because they ran into problems where a lefty would throw from the first base side of the rubber and would gain an extra foot or so for the move to first.
  18. I just wish there was a recommendation for having the honigs shirts gliding on by the velcro on my CP... that is besides having to wait till next season for Ump-Attire to bring out the rest of the colors of their shirts.
  19. I really need to clean my gear but probably wont happen till the fall or winter (or after the move which ever comes first) but the tips are great and I imagine are transferable to the Gold.
  20. I did the jacket and gold cp for the first time in almost 6 years last night. I forgot how good it looks (but it has to be the ones with the shoulder piping... otherwise it doesnt look as good) (NOTE: still want a plate coat though..!)
  21. I just let a rookie use my WV Gold (something i NEVER do) for a pony game we worked cause he was complaining about his pro-9 POS. I think we have another convert ladies and gentlemen.
  22. Heck, there are some "varsity" games that are worse then an instructional league game. By the way, Michael, what is an IP?
  23. Is angel marquez (sic?) working this year? I havent seen him yet.
  24. I was thinking more along the lines that that was what the coach would say. My reaction is all in smilies to something like that 1) 2) 3) 4) and 5) as I walk away with out giving an answer.
  25. I found this post on "Moneygrubbers" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month May, 2009"
