  1. I would love to use Nike Air's, they are comfortable, they just don't run wide enough unfortunately.
  2. I'm glad i read this thread. I would probably have botched this play and not let the 2nd out stand. BOO just happens so rarely, and even more rare when they let a play happen before catching it.

    FPSR?

Yeah. Good call by the plate umpire. This is one too many guys still miss. Solid mechanics on selling the call too.
  4. Makers 46 and makers 101 are both really nice.
  5. Big bourbon fan here. Sippers I do Willett's a lot. Four Roses Single Barrel is nice. Knob Creek for a good sipper for the money. Maker's is solid as well. Eagle Rare.
  6. I forgot about Doug McClures camps. Good call Donny. I've heard solid things about his clinics.
  7. Welcome to umpiring fellow texan. The Mid-American put on by Jason is a great clinic. I've only done the 2 man but im sure the 3 man is fantastic too. For local clinics, John Brammer puts on great clinics in the DFW area. He has multiple D1, and former MLB/MiLB umpires on his staff. He does 2 man and college level clinics. Check out the website here https://www.nationalumpirecamps.com/
  8. I am not disagreeing with you there. But gotta go with what the powers that be decree.
  9. It's consistent with how our state organization has instructed us to enforce this.
  10. I like a no call on the play at home after watching it a few times. Kevin makes some great comments. The catcher makes a failed taq attempt. The runner didn't do anything extra to knock the ball out, and he didn't alter the play, the catcher caused that. The runner is not required to slide, and going in standing up is not an automatic FPSR depending on how the play unfolds. I have trouble penalizing the runner here.
  11. I just bought the Cobalt this year. Haven't had a chance to test it but I will report back once I have some games under my belt this year. First scrimmage Saturday. I'm really hoping its as good as I hope it to be. I'm coming from a WV Platinum I've worn for 12 years so it feels night and day different.
  12. We are down to about 130ish guys. We had 200 about 6 years ago. They said we lost 25-30 guys from last year alone. Umpires are getting older and its difficult to get younger guys in. avg age in our chapter has to be around 60. They said we need about 120 guys any given day just to cover the Varsity games, so we end up doing games M, T, W, Friday, and Saturdays to cover everything. It's a snowball rolling downhill and I don't know how it stops or gets better.
  13. You were doing the Lord's work lawump. I would agree that it has gotten much better since the rule implementation, and when they first added it in all of the umpires in our association had questions too. But they've clarified it greatly. I will say not enough guys are using the restriction + written warning option in their toolbelt enough, and it is something I plan to use more this year since I am guilty of that as well.
  14. Most of my camps have asked us to show up in base uniform and either bring just your mask, or your plate gear and uniform if you will be working games, etc. But I concur with Thunder. Ask someone, and otherwise just learn as much as you can.
  15. Correction: We have been instructed to not allow them to wear the bands on the belt and that if worn they must be worn properly.
  16. i forgot he didn't call time in that one. My bad. For sure the Lentz video is great.
  17. Go reference the play in the World Series with Jim Joyce at 3rd. That's exactly how the plate umpire did it. I think that mechanic would be fine. And easily understood that something strange happened to everyone watching.
  18. I use a 4 stitch behind the plate and 6 ont he bases.
  19. If you have obstruction and the play is that close at home, you could definitely award him home. I agree with noumpere. He has to be protected to at least 3rd there. But can easily be protected to home. If he's thrown out by 30ft, then thats different.
  20. I'll have to check that out. Sounds really interesting Jason.
  21. www.saxxunderwear.com/collections/quest These are what i wear every day. they help a lot.
  22. That would explain a lot about the voice changes in the recent videos. Glad Lindsay could make the transition and be her true self. I had no idea she was the organist for the Ducks til just now. That's amazing.
