^ man thats confusing. Why not just have the home team pay for the umps? I think ill send the assigner an email, telling him about my experience at the field. Then explain how I got,the game. Id say he will be upset as well when he finds out an ump is taking teams schedules and assigning them out himself.

Guy I was working with the other day said he got his at walmart for 20 bucks. They were pretty close to the same color as mine. Now I dont recomend this, but if you need something to hold you over until you get yours altered it may work. But please, always dress the part.

How could you? Your such a bad person for taking it away from their babies! For the rest of their lives they will remember they would of won a state championship if it wasnt for that one ump. Kills me, i tell people all the time im sick of hearing its the umps fault, its the coaches fault, or its the bus drivers fault. Sometimes your kid just didnt get it done and lost. Teach them to lose instead of teaching them to blame.

Haha. I think all the time, " now THAT was a ball". Although its usually a fan. We have a zero tolerence for a coach and especially a player arguing balls and strikes.

Varsity HS Bottom 7th home team down 3-2. 7th inn started 3-0. Bases loaded 2 outs and a full count. Pitcher throws an inside curveball, batter starts to turn his shoulders away from the pitch, as he does he also raises his leg off the ground causing his knee to come up and catch the pitch as it breaks across the plate. Batter starts running to first with his hands in the air, place is going nuts, runner stars coming home from third. I step out and point to batter "hit him in strike zone, thats strike three. Batters out, ball game!" The place went from going nuts to absolutely giving me hell. "how can he be out? The ball hit him. What a cheater! He just dont want to go into extra innings" Home coach comes to me " you've got to be kidding me, dont take this away from these kids. you know thats not right. " By this time my partner who was in c is standing with us. He tells the coach he saw the same thing, and the pitch was defintly in the strike zone and the batter clearly raised his knee into the pitch. It was a hostile environment getting off the field and to my car but no one bothered us other then more SH*# talk on the way out. Partner says that was 100% the right call but it took some stones kid. Glad to see you got the balls to make the big calls when it counts. I felt this was a big compliment from a vet. Just thought id share a big moment from this year. Anyone have a similar game ending story? I know its the rules, but ive seen guys hesitate to call that last strike three in a tight game. Seems like it takes a little bit more to make that last call.

I saw someone refer to these people as scabs in another thread so I thought id use it. Our state and local associations set prices with the schools for everything from varsity to one man middle school. What do you guys do, or what can be done about rouge umpires who call up coaches to make deals? For instance, if a middle school game with one up is $72.50 and they normally play two. A ump will talk to the coach before he turns the games into the assigner and say ill do both games for $105, and work your whole schedule. The coach just gives that ump the entire schedule and when he cant make it he will call and ask other umps to cover it. Didnt really realize this was going on until i agreed to cover and when it came time to pay I asked about the low price and the coach said the ump he had given the schedule to agreed on that price. I didnt want to get into it with the coach over money before a game, because its not professional amd makes it look like im in it just for the money. Now this very thing has been brought up in meetings. The assigner talking about not being able to get us raises and stuff because we have guys who go out and make their own deals to make sure they are working a lot. My questions are basically, how would you of handled the situation when you got paid before the game? Should I bring it to the assigners attention? Should I bring it to other umpires attention that this guy is basically undercutting us all and taking an entire schedule from a team for less money? Should I confront the umpire myself and keep it low key? I really do not want to keep it quiet because tbh, it disgusted me.

$70 to much for the cp? Buying a new one tomorrow, wife will freak out when my third one shows up. Someone buy this for $50. Plated protection from allstar for $50 you know you cant beat that.

Scares me because of the horrible experience with the tightness of the neck on the old allstar i had. It cut the SH*# out of my neck. My buddy is trying to get me to go with the zero gravity from honigs. I was also afraid of the puffyness. Im a small guy.

Bringing back an old thread, im thinking of this cp. anyone have an experiences with it over the last year? I want a tough soft shell. I have a plated all star thats just to small in the neck area. I also have the cheap champ pro which I love, but I took a shot in a varsity game tonight thats making me re consider it. I will be calling 18u this summer and naia next season. I will not chance that with the champ pro.

Anyone know about this? How old it is and level of protection. I bought this from a umpire a few years back but never used it. Then when I got into umping it was just a little to small so I ordered a new one. I took a shot with mine tonight and it does not have the protection I need for this summer and next years college schedule. So im going to try to sell this allstar one. Just want to get some info on it before, so i know what a fair asking price is. Its mint. Ill post a genaric pic here and will take measurements and real phots if requested. Thanks for any replies. I was taught with undershirts you wear the color of the outter stripe. Navy- red Powder blue- navy Black- white Is this the general consensus?
