  1. Thanks for your replies. I think the rubber will come out especially after what both of you have written. After two washes, it certainly looks different, but it is still there. Would something like Goo-Gone work on the fabric or would it ruin the fabric??? I'd prefer to get it out, the shirt is still good otherwise.
  2. Fair questions. I have only dry cleaned the pants. I have never machine washed or dried them not even one time. The base pants are a couple of years old. I only umpire from about April to August about 80 games per year. While I agree that the part will be tucked in, I don't think it is reasonable for me to ignore the fact that something from the poly-wools came from the pants to the shirt and after two washes, still hasn't come off. I will follow up with the response from the company.
  3. Good afternoon. Last night, while I was changing out of my base gear, I was taking off my poly-wool pants and the waist line was literally sticking to my shirt. It sounded like peeling tape off of a cardboard box. My jersey is ruined. I store my gear in my air conditioned home, it's only in my car (in a garment bag) for the road trip, which yesterday was about 10 minutes. Take a look at the picture, let me know your thoughts. I have contacted the dealer (The "H" company) and I haven't received a response in return. They did say that they'd get back to me on Monday. See photo.
  4. Are they for sale yet? If so, where?
  5. The McDavid website is terrible. Yikes, I like their products too, but what a cluster.
  6. Lots and lots of rain this year. Many rainouts. Overall baseball has been okay. Pace of games, not bad at all. Snow will be flying here soon enough...I'm just happy to be umpiring right now.
  7. Also in NCAA, if contact is above the waist it is judged to be an attempt to dislodge the baseball, not to reach home plate.
  8. or did you finish the half inning per the rules?
  9. Thumbs down, I'm not camping on the field.
  10. This one is a black one. This one should sell. I thought the other one was blue. Or at least it appears to be black.
  11. @NWAump I know, I couldn't believe it either.

    Must Haves

The Two Umpire System by Jim Evans If you work more than one rule set you must own the BRD (Baseball Rule Differences by Carl Childress) If you can get an MLBUM, get one (Major League Baseball Umpire Manual) If you can't find a MLBUM, get a PBUC manual you can get it on Evans Umpire Academy website. Others will add to this list, so I will simply stop here. Good luck and have fun. Keep in mind, if these books are going to sit on your shelf, they're worthless. Gotta read them.
  13. Yep, those are the ones and they're actually cheaper on Honigs too.
  14. An umpire colleague of mine got the new All Star...I haven't seen it yet, but I hear its pretty sweet.
  15. Do not wear your hat backwards. The mask should rest on the bill of your cap. Is it possible that your hat is too big? Is it an actual umpire hat?

It sounds like a center strap issue. The Gold does need to break in. But the whole point of it fitting up that high is for protection.
  17. So how much does this cost and where do you get it from? I tried to find it on there website but didnt see anything. Right now, gerrydavis.com has them. They're somewhat expensive, but work one game with them and you'll see the difference. Good luck!
  18. Please do, I'm intrigued by the strap design.
  19. To me, vision is pretty important. I'd like to be able to walk my daughter down the aisle one day and see her husband and possibly my grand kids at some point. I have no issue dropping $200 on a pair of quality sunglasses. Obviously, your mileage may vary.
  20. Fair question: Actually I have considerably less natural padding.
  21. Review on the Performance Pads: 80 degrees today, probably 70 dew point. Not too hot, but wanted to try them out for the 100 degree day tomorrow. I got 7 innings out of 1 performance pad and it was still white in places at the end of the game, approximately 1:45 game time. To keep completely cool, I could have swapped it out, midway through...but it was fine. I'm wondering about the vest because my partner tried my pads and they kept slipping down his softshell CP and his straps were TIGHT. I'm not sure why they stayed up on me, but slid down on his. I suggested that for $10 more he could buy the vest and be fine.
  22. I am a 36 waist, 38 belt, and a 42-44 jacket. I think I will go to the XL for my plate shirts to wear w/ the WV Gold. The ones I have right now fit, but they just look a bit snug with the Gold.
  23. Just got my Performance Pads today. Ready to rock it out in the 100 degree weather we're facing this weekend. Will have a good opportunity to report the results after this weekend's games.
  24. Hi Guys, I'm trying to upgrade the sizes of my plate shirts so they fit correctly with my WV Gold. Currently I have a stock of the Majestic XL and Honigs XL jerseys. The XL's fit a bit tight with my WV Gold. My question to the board is: How are the new Honigs shirts sizing? Can I order an XL under the new Honigs shirts, or should I size up to XXL for my plate shirts. I'm not a big guy at all, so the thought of an XXL makes me very nervous, but if the new ones run small like my old ones do, then of course I'd need to size up to an XL. This doesn't have to limit itself to the Honig jerseys, I'm not interested in anything Official's choice, but I would be interested to hear how the ump-attire shirts run...do they run big, or should I size up for plate? Thank you for your feedback, John
  25. Personally, I'd stay away from Red. I have been wearing the gray quite a lot. I have the Dalco one and it's sized for the plate, but I love it, more guys are liking it too, since more umpires are wearing the charcoal, the gray looks a low better. Another cream or black never hurt, so then I'm not stuck wearing navy blue when that's all my partner has. Those are my thoughts. Good luck
