  1. It states right in the MLBUM that you can't argue a step balk, which is why he probably pointed to his leg as a mechanic to show that it was a step balk. I will watch the clip now to see.
  2. It was wise to price the All-Star below the WV Gold. As for the leg guards. If they are far and above in terms of quality up against the black Wilsons, then I suppose that's how they justify the price. OR, maybe they don't have a lot in stock, so they jack the price up and adjust as inventory increases. Right now, it seems like supply and demand. If you really, really want them, you'll pay a premium to get them now as opposed to when the price drops. With 10% off, they come in at $121.49, so about a $20 bill above the Wilson's...which really isn't too bad. Still a good chunk of change.
  3. I want to follow up with my experience with Honigs on the issue with my poly wool pants. After working very closely with their returns/customer service department, we played a little bit of phone tag and I will say that Honigs stood by their product 100%. In my opinion, they went above and beyond what they had to do to do the right thing for the customer. So, thank you Honigs.
  4. Mazza, would you recommend your above technique under the two man system? Seems like it may limit mobility a little bit.
  5. This is a serious question. How do you care for the metal straps?
  6. If these are the shirts you're speaking of, I believe umpire Joe West is selling them on what appears to be his web site. http://www.cowboyjoewest.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CJW&Product_Code=MLU_Shirts&Category_Code=WA And yes, I agree w/ kylejt, don't wear these on the field. Ever.
  7. See John, where else do you get direct feedback on a product from the owner of a company? You can shop with confidence with ump-attire. They take care of their customers.
  8. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=13676339 In this play, interference is called, but they successfully turn the DP, so in this case, is it right to ignore the Interference which would allow the run to score, or since interference is called, no matter what happens afterward, no runner may advance?
  9. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=14841971 Was this not called INT because it was not a swing, but a bunt attempt and the batter pulled his bat back and the bat inadvertently went into the catcher's mitt?
  10. Good mechanics on the interference. But the real reason I posted this is to listen to one of my favorites, Vin Scully, correctly describe interference vs obstruction. Another reason why he's the best ever. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=17816669
  11. That site is intimidating...unless you can read Japanese...looks like it sells for about $39. Plus shipping which I suppose could be another $20 or so...but, yep, that's the one!
  12. Yep, I believe it's one of the new All Star products. http://www.all-starsports.com/products.php?prod=471 Mizuno might also have one....but I really don't know...those are my two guesses.
  13. Man, looks like a great call. Yeah, it appeared as though he chunked his slide. Kind of like my golf swing.
  14. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting an entire crew, but I felt the same way when I met Steve Palermo and interrupted him to say hi while he was evaluating Jeff Nelson's crew (or whomever was the crew chief 4 yrs ago) in Kansas City. He didn't have to give me the time of day, but he did, and I was also able to get a picture with him. Thanks for sharing the story! Very nice
  15. Wore the Large Honigs shirt tonight for game 1 on the pads, and I really like the new fabric. I am also glad that I didn't go w/ a medium. Maybe 15 years ago, I could've pulled it off, but the Large is good.
  16. I thought it was an ESPN Classic...nope...the balloon is alive and well in Williamsport!
  17. Thirsty for a soda by chance??
  18. Good point. And no, I won't cover the W on my mask or on my WV Gold.
  19. Tough, tough call. Just a mess. He would've had to have gone foul right away and busted a$$ to get there to see the tag.
  20. I wonder if a person took a team ripper if you could get rid of the "Honigs" on the back of the shirts...have any of you tried that??
  21. We are close to the same size. By reading, I made the right choice. Thanks again, John
  22. Delmon has been virtually silent since he joined the Twins organization and obviously no different w/ the Tigers. w/o seeing the depth of the ball, there's no evidence to suggest that the umpire missed INT on that play. In fact he signaled safe to indicate that he had nothing on the play. Good video though.
  23. I saw somebody else post somewhere else that it is important to remember that this is a defensive penalty...and by keeping Choo at first, doesn't really penalize them at all. R1 got to 3b, and B/R is still at 1B. Not saying that because the defense erred that you everything possible to stick it to them, but the benefit of the doubt certainly can/should swing to the offense in these cases.
